Im going to be looking at a 97 cobra convertible this week. I wanted to know what i should be looking for and any common problems the cars typically have before i drive 5+ hours away to meet with him.

Hmmmm...no real common issues that I can think of. Just the usual stuff, check for signs of accident damage, repaint, etc. On a ragtop, make sure the top goes up & down ok...can't really think of anything out of the ordinary. The only thing I didn't check out that bit me in the butt on my '97 was the cd player...radio worked OK, didn't even think about the cd. My cd player never worked right, & I only just recently got around to replacing it.

Yes, i agree, these are probably some of the most solid mustangs of any model year, and if you have a high credit limit you can make those guys with the 03/04 cobras look stupid for paying 28k+ for theirs :nice: i also had problems with my factory CD player and tape deck, just do exhaust first, there is nothing worse than driving an EFI V8 mustang with stock exhaust.

I have a 97 vert. I don't know of any problem areas, other than the rear tires...

Apparently people tried to steal the badges on my car so the paint is messed up around it. Also work the transmission through its paces b/c the T45 is not the strongest trans in the world.

Its a great car, you will love it.
