looking for a little insight on a 302 swap for a 99 stang

Hi
so my friend wants me to put a new engine in there 99 v6 mustang that they blew the head gasket out of. so they always wanted a v8 and I just happened to have a 302 that i had planned on putting in my 70 cougar but never did . we both agreed that it would be really awesome if it was a carb car instead of a fuel infected or the proper term injected. the thing is there are thing that I'm not to sure of like how the heck will i do this i haven't done this before but I've seen people do it and I was just wondering if any one has and whats in store for me and my friend.

Is the 302 that you have a fuel injected motor? How complete is it? Why do you want to put a carb on it? With everything on the market these days EFI seems to be a way better option. I have not done a swap like this, so I wont be any help to you. Answering my questions though will help others that have more insight then me.

EFI is definitely the better option, but a carb is going to be the easier swap here. To each their own I suppose.

As for the swap, I do know that the gauges won't work, as they are computer controlled; you'll need to either swap in a 94-98 cluster (which fits, but will have to be rewired), or an aftermarket set. K Member may also be a problem; as I understand it, that car has a modular K member, so you would need a 94-95 or Tubular K member for a small block. The other systems I've not looked at from this context.

NO it has never been a fuel injection motor Its out of a 69 torino with very low miles and its complete just need to put back on the timing cover and the valve covers.#1 reason we want to put a carb in it is that there easy to work on and worth the time to work on I like to call it fuel infected beacuse it is we both prefer carbed and manual trans I was also thinking that maybe my pair of winsor heads i got in my shop that are not being used would work on there to And the thing about EFI is that it ok but they have so meany issues electronic that I dont want that and neither does my friend. well thank you that was the issues that i had heard of with these swaps The k Member is there any cars that you know of that would work as a donor parts to me are pretty limitless exept the fact that all the cars in my friends junk yard are all v6 and the v8 have serious issues. but thanks again I'll do some more research.

For the K member, only the 94-95 Mustang had the small block pattern. V6 or V8 should be fine; they simply adapted the V6 mounts to fit whatever V8 was being used at the time.
