How much did you get your STI for, if you don't mind me asking?
To each their own; I think the new GTO looks pretty good--not astonishing or extraordinary, rather a bit ordinary...just not bad looking.

I got a call from the body shop...the guy I talked to was cool, he has a new edge GT also with a KB he got done at Apex Motorsports in Santa Clara. He could feel my pain... anyways, the damage to the car was 150% of the car's worth...dang. Totaled.
Anyways, I have narrowed it down...
While a STI or EVO would be nice choices, they are highest in insurance, so I'll probably throw them out.
03-04 Cobras go for ~$29k around here, plus it would be hard to find one that has not been beaten on.
I don't want a Mach 1, I want something different (although the Cobra would have been an exception).
I think I've narrowed it down to these two (both of which I'll probably get flamed on this board)
2006 Mustang GT (a few dealers have clearance GTs left, in manual)
2005 GTO M6
I'm leaning towards the GTO. Yes, I know, wrong badge...but I think the 05-06 model looks nice, and the car has sleeper appeal. Take off the god-awful spoiler...Shave the rear badges (with the 6.0 badge), tack on one-chambers and H-pipe and I'll surprise the hell out of the locals. Their interiors are REALLY nice for a GM...and the 05s seem to be the best year (better than the 04s, and the 06s had strut problems).
There's something about the new Mustang I don't like... I'm not sure what it is, but I feel it would take a lot more money to make it the way I'd want it (for instance, I feel they don't look good without at least 19s... 18s look too damn small on this car, IMO!)
Regardless of what I choose, I'm sticking around here...what other forum has such a great thread on Seafoam?!
Mazda RX7 FD LS1 swap, or, 2000 corvette, LS2 GTO.
Theres alot you can get for 15-30k that will run 11's or 12's, look awesome, and be super daily driveable!

You should be able find a 04-05 STI for around the price range

That's what road trips are made for....find one elsewhere, fly to it and have fun bringing it back. All in all, you are going to save a considerable amount finding a car out of Cali anyways...although I do not know how your emission stuff works when bring a car from another state. Good luck whatever you decide.

Congrats those are awesome cars. Kid that lives next to my brother traded off his ls1 trans am ws6 for one a couple weeks ago and loves it.

I like Pro3 and all I got was this crappy CT.
Thanks guys! I love the car, it's real fun to drive... the shifter sucks (like the stock mustang shifter) so I'm going to invest in the popular GMM Ripshift..
When they came out in 2004 I called them a glorified Cavalier. But they grew on me (especially with the improvements in 05 and 06). The exterior panels and interior materials look much better than anything GM has (i.e., I think the exterior of the Grand Prix looks like plastic with that cheesy molding).. I've already surprised quite a few unsuspecting family sedan folk.
Let me go wash the car and snap some pics.
