well guys its time to purchase some new bumpsticks(cams) what do you guys think. and why (VT,COMP,ect..) Thanks for your help

A question for you...what are your plans for the car? Staying NA or going PA at some point?

I'm VT stage II NA and love em for what it's worth...

im not sure but i want to prep it for what i choose later. what was the total cost to get them in stalled? i garaged the car for 3 years and im going to start working on it as it sits all i have 410 gears flows cai and thats it. so i want a good bang for the buck. and i am going to lean towards a forced induction but that is going to wait till winter.

We carry both VT and Comp. I love both companys. It really comes down to what you have/or want to do to the car. Feel free to pm or call me if you have any questions about any of the grinds. But let us know what you are planning on doing with the car that way we can point you in a better way (so to say). VT is an AWESOME Company and they have done the research on the cam grinds. Same with comp as well.

ok well i just got of the phone with a LOCAL speed shop here in IL geared towards GMs But i was recomended that i give em a call by a guy at comp cams and DSS performance. anyway he said that he wouldnt recomend me putting any cams in because of drivability and his price ended up being in the near 2K$ mark $1000 in labor alone soo i have no clue what to do. and that did not include a tune for another $600 im kinda stuck guys....

I don't think the VT Stage II's would have any driveability issues.. that's what are being shipped my way actually :D

I've got a profession doing my install.. he's only charging $200 for install on cams and valvesprings :nice:

Cant you do the instal yourself? Doesnt sound like your in any hurry to get it on the road, so readup on the instal in the mean time. When you get the cams, just take your time and instal the things yourself. Its pretty easy really, and there is enough info on this site and modular depot.com for you to learn how to do it. Save youself ALOT of $$$. Then take it to another tuner and they should charge around $450 for a dyno tune....those clowns are WAY to high.

You can't go wrong with the VT stage 1 or 2 cams.
I would go with VT because they are great people to
deal with if you ever have a problem they will help you
unlike other companys. Also their customer service is
the best.

Cams are extremely freaking expensive

Cams - $600
Install - $1200
Tune - $300

Thats over two grand for killer engine sound and def SOTP power increase though :nice:

In my case it was..

Cams/Valvesprings - $845
SCT XCal2 - $400
Install - $200
Tune - $200
-------------
Total - $1645

Or that's how much it will end up costing.. I've already gotten all of my prices fixed down and ready to roll :nice: :D

But installing yourself will make it even less expensive :nice:

ok guys thanks...I will go with the VTII...Next Question does anyone know of a shop that will do the labor besides the one i mentioned earlier...i would love to do it my self i have a nice collection of snap-on and matco tools. plus i own a car audio shop, but the prob i have is time to wrench on my car when my customers are more important to me so i was looking for the easy way out..so im looking for a shop in the chicago area..

I am trying to decide between the stage 1 0r 2's as Im staying NA. I dont think Im gonna change the heads from stock, but for thr money I think the 2's are worth it. Is it ok to run the stage 2's with stock heads? Im installing jba mid length headers 1st and cams after. Looking for about 40 rwhp with the combo.

with stock heads sure. you will indeed notice a bigger difference with ported heads. the issue you run into is that with the stage 2 cams, you will need to install high lift springs because of the lift and duration of the cams.

Thx, I was a bit nervous about the stage 2's, but what the heck. I have a good tuner that Im gonna rely on to get it working right and cant wait for that sweet idle. Is 40-45 rwhp realistic with the headers/cams...even though I have an auto trans?

Bah.. I just placed an order with VT for Stage II ported heads and Stage I cams...

Also placed an order with RPM outlet for BBK Longtube headers/offroad X...

oh my god im gonna feel the pain in the wallet tomorrow morning :barf:

Please tell me that was worth it... because I'll be working full time this summer just to pay that off.

:flag:

give me a nice number to expect on a mustang dyno with a pretty good tune (I have dan from realspeed automotive tuning my car)
