I can't get any response in "race tech", so I figured I'd try here. I have 2 aluminum spares that I want to use as front skinnies. I need to know where to get some tires for them. I'm not looking to spend over $100 for both, so the name brand, drag front skinnies are out of the question unless I can find them used, cheap. I'm leaning towards just some radial tires around size P165/70/15, but can't find them on line anywhere. It seems to be an odd size, so something close to it should work. I haven't gone to Pep Boys or any other tire stores yet, but just wanted to see what everyone had to say.

Go to PepBoys and get some 165R15's -- they should be about $25 a piece.

I don't know about using the spares as skinnies -- I've never been a big fan of that.

Thanks for the tire info. what could be so wrong with using the spares? I can understand if I was going to be doing some 11 sec or 120 mph runs, but I'm only running 13's, at barely over 100mph.

your going 100 in the 1/4, and the spare is rated NOT to exceed 50(even though it can) So its your neck. We all buy tires at Pepboys, we ask for Volkswagon tires.lol

I'm pretty sure it's the tire that should not exceed 50mph. Not the rim, but thats also why I'm trying to get some more input from other people.

I have run the same setup at least a dozen times if they are secure they will stay own if there was a problem with them the techs would not let you run the V.W. tires are the ones you want its feels a little funny running radials of front but you will get but after a few passes you won't think about it. you times will improve a 10th or 2. a my car runs well over a 100mph in the 1320 12.80 on street tires 11.90 on slicks and the spares shod with the V.W. all done while lifting btw shifts (granny shifting)
