Does any one know anything about coils? I went to go to town the other day and it started to skip really bad when the RPMS get above 1500. it's a ford f150 crew cab with a 5.4 litter. Iput new plugs in it about 2 months ago.

HELP HELP

Thought maybe I'd ask easy question. Does any one know what coil normally goes bad first. I don't really feel like spending 800.00 on a set if I can get by with just one. I don't know that much about mod motors but I figure a 4.6 and a 5.4 are alot alike. THANK GOD FOR 5.0 LITTERS.

If they are the same size as the ones in the 4.6 mustang (year 2000) then PM me and maybe I can help you out.

There is no way to Ohm out the COP to see if it's bad. I had a bad one and it measured everything good. The easiest way is to buy a spare COP on ebay for $30 and swap them out 1 by 1.

If you can, check your fuel pressure to check if the fuel pump is good.

+1

I replaced all eight of mine with ACCEL SuperCoils for just over $200.

Welcome!

Please take the CAPS LOCK off - it gives the appearance that you are YELLING!

I'm sure the thread starter could simply replace everything, but he, probably like the rest of us, doesn't have an endless amount of money and is trying to diagnose the problem himself. Let's try to help him...

Unplugging them one by one is what I did with the same issue...it works!
Also, have you changed your fuel filter lately?
