Looking for How-to "Changing tranny fluid"

Anybody know how its done on a 4r70w transmission? What is the best type of fluid of fill it back up with and how many quarts does it take including the convertor.


I assume i can do this on ramps?


btw, i did use the search button and looked a few pages with no result

you should use mercon v. ive always flushed it with a machine, but it is definately a good idea to change out the filter while you do the flush. not sure of the exact number, i would assume its around 12qts on a mustang

I've always had oil-change shops do my auto trannys. You usually won't be able to flush all of the fluid out of the torque converter and other various hiding places by doing this in the driveway. For a manual, just drain and fill... but its a bit more involved to do a good job with an auto.

13qts. have someone else do it for you. you won't be able to flush all of the old fluid out.
