I am looking for a new set of front brakes that won't break the bank. I plan on taking my car to the track at least 4 times a year so I want something that will last and resist fade.

I am comparing the 3 following entry level kits and was hoping some people here may have them and tried them at a track and would let me know how they faired.

SS Brakes Front Force 10 Disc Brake Kit
- 13" 1 piece slotted rotors
- 3 piston calipers

Baer GT-Plus Brake Kit
- 14" 2 piece drilled rotors
- 2 piston calipers

Shelby GT500 Brake Kit
- 14" 1 piece solid rotors
- 4 piston calipers

All 3 kits are similarly priced so it is a hard decision.

Thanks

The Baer and GT500 kits are very close in performance and at this price point mind as well go with something Mustang. Get the GT500 ones. Then you can say, "has the GT500 brakes."

Oh and for the Force 10 stuff, all those kits look like Fisher-Price's "My First Brake Kit" to me. Haven't seen or heard any reviews on them.

Ideally, the best kit is still the Stop Tech stuff. They go out of their way to make sure the kit is tuned for our ABS system thus allowing improved street performance as well as for the track. But they start at $1800 for front.

Really though, unless your a demon at corner entries, the Stage 1 kit from Stop Tech does wonders for braking performance. It's just lines, pads and slotted or drilled rotors. Our stock calipers are the old Cobra/Vette PBR twin piston ones so they run pretty good with just upgraded rotors and pads.

Just a thought. That kit is only $680.

The GT500 fronts I bet will be easier on the wallet than the baer because
baer rotors are costly.
Here is something i've been wondering. Would the GT 500's brembos
fit the GT's optional 18" wheels. I would think so but thats not something
I want to assume.

Actually I have found the Baer kit for $200 less than the GT500 kit.

As far as the GT500 kit fitting the stock 18" rims, I have heard that you need spacers to make them fit because the Bembo calipers are quick a lot bigger than the stock ones.

Check out grassroots motorsports build up; they've been running stock sized brakes on the track:

Thants a good link.
I know people who say the s197 brakes hold up pretty
well and this is at Road America which has looong straights.
I'll find out for myself this Aug.
