im planning on forming up a roll bar for my 86 hatch with 1 3/4 .090 tubing but i cant seem to find a pair of mandrel bends for the top of the main brace. anyone have any idea where i could find a pair of these?

thanks for any info

Um,.... it needs to be one piece of tubing all the way,.... you can't cut it and weld in bends!??! And,.. it needs to be .120+ wall for Mild Steel.

no no and no. haha dude i called around nobody will even bend the straight .090 tubing. one piece roll bar YES!! but for sanctioned racing or nhra. This is just a hobby/street car. i had some .090 piping that i got cheap and all i need are a pair of bends. thanks for the info though

I got the tubing for my 8pt bar at Newburg Steel. I got two 20foot lengths, and (Joe Skinner) bent it to the shape I wanted to fit my car. I had a lot of help though. I think I paid $40 for each 20ft length,.. I had to pick it up though.

The only reason I have a problem with the .090 bar is that if you sold the car and the new owner spent alot of money on go fast goodies,.. then he find's out the bar is not legit,... that is sure a pain in the azz. I hope that most people would just step up to the plate and get a legal bar. Happy bending!!:}

yeah i hear ya but i already have the tubing. ive been wondering though. like if you are required to have a cage at i think its 11 sec or faster, im probably totally wrong though but how would a tech at pir tell the dif between 1 3/4 .125 and 1 3.4 .090?
i kinda want to just use what i have and my car will be seriously like 95 percent street. hell i only drive it one day a week anyway and thats just to cruise.

Tubing is CHEAP! Just use the correct stuff from the beginning. Chances are that the techs won't know the difference between the 2 sizes without sonic testing. It'd be silly to save $40 if you are going to the work of putting a cage in. :shrug:
