I have a 2006 and it recently went into limp mode while i was driving its giving 18 check engine codes as well as the o/d dash light is now flashing. codes are p1035, p0155, p0403, p0443, p0446, p0740, p0743, p0748, p0755, p0758,p0760,p00763,p0778,p0798,p0962,p0966,p0970,p1000. its been in the shop for around 2 weeks with them not being able to find the issue. i was looking for some help to see what this could possibly even be. The car has no cats and no o2 sensors so the check engine light has been on.

Check your fuses first. F2.27 under the dash. Report back.

had the shop check the fuses and they stated fuse 42 and 47 was blown he replaced them and the lights went away however once you start to drive it they pop again.

You have a wiring problem. I would probably start with the O2 sensor harness.

they stated that the 02 sensor harness is completely missing and are quoting me to replace the entire harness for the vehicle.

You will need that O2 harness if it's missing. Replacing the entire vehicle harness is not practical.

If they're mechanics, they should be able to use a meter and determine where the issues are. If they can't, you might want to consider another mechanic.

It should be pretty easy to troubleshoot with the fuse blowing right away.

Question: Are there a lot of visible electrical "hacks" in this car?

as far as im aware this is the only thing. the mechanic said the entire wiring harness is wrapped in electrical tape and the plug ins for the 02 sensors are completely missing.

Yeah... There's only so much I can tell you over these here interwebz.

That missing harness needs to be replaced and the short in the harness that is left needs to be found.

Beyond that, I could not tell you what other surprises you might find. I would start with the shot. Check Late Model Restoration and CJ Pony Parts for replacement O2 sensor harnesses or extensions.

You could check Rock Auto too but you need to be certain you're ordering the correct thing from them. So, check it then verify.

it was a short in the ac system causing the fuses to constantly pop whenever the ac would kick on

What about your O2 harness? Are they putting sensors back in the car?

You're going to need to fix that at some point if this is a street car.

No O2 sensors, no EEC control or adaptability for the air/fuel ratio. Bad things can happen.
