I'm looking for source for City lights on my stang, like these on Fastforward....

any help would be awesome!

I bought "city lights" for my car on eBay, the total was about $50 IIRC.

yeah, i picked up a set on ebay for about $30....mine have a blue tinge to them though.

here are some pics of mine. One has the city lights only turned on. The most recent pic where my car is taken apart you can see in the headlight housings where the little black dot is at the bottom. That is where the small city lights come through. They look very cool. pm me your e-mail, and I'll send you more pics w/ them one at night headlights vs. city lights.
I paid $45 for these, and they came w/ halogen bulbs. I got Silvania Silverstar super whites later though. Got them from Johns Mustang in Houston. Just do an internet search for their website -
Oh and I just wired mine into the parking lights w/ a switch on the ground for them under the hood just in case I don't want to use them w/ the parking lights here and there I just flip the switch to turn them off.

Hey 68 & 00, I can't find where on John's website them lights be! I see sealed beam, but no city light assemblies. Where oh where?

EDIT: Oh, and streetgrande, you're going to want (like I will) 5-3/4" lights. I believe these are different than every other year (? I think, can't remember) except the 67 GT lights, or something.

These use an "H4" bulb as the primary, you'll need relays for those. The "city" part is just a little low powered incandescent bulb, there is no provision on the original harness for them so you'll be a-customizing your harness

relays ? I didn't need anything like that. I just used bulbs intended for motorcycles, and they plug into the same plug / harness as the factory sealed beam. Am I supposed tohave a relay of some sort ?

I built a relay with 2 30 amp Bosch relays. I did this due to always hearing that you should and then seeing the very thin gauge wire that supplies the power to the lights. Cheap insurance against any kind of fire.

These modern halogen bulbs will draw a lot more current than your old sealed beams ever would. As long as your alternator can keep up you MIGHT be in luck. Relays will guarantee that the bulbs receive full power though.

I'll be getting a 80-100amp alternator before I strst driving the car to go w/ my Optima Red Top battery. Will that be OK, or should I get relays ? If so where do I get them ? I'm trying like hell to avoid the dim light syndrome.

Your car looks awesome and from the signature sounds like it will move. I would hate to see all the work go to due to not building a relay. I have a stock alternator and they work fine, after I put in the relay there is no more dimming like the old ones used to at an idle. I bought the relays from www.partsexpress.com. You will need two 30 amp Bosch. As for wiring them due a search and you will find a website that has two diagrams. I remember seeing the diagram on this site as well. Each relay is about the 1 inch by 1 inch without the female end. I mounted them on the radiator support right above the where the OEM harness is mounted on the apron.

Parts express is awesome, If I can find the pick of my install with the relays on my car. The biggest reason for the relays I thought was the headlight switch, because halogen bulbs draw so much more power, it will overload the switch. One thing you can do first is get a headlight switch for either a 67-68 couger or a 69 mustang. These were designed for higher loads with the 4-headlight system. (solved a flickering problem in my car this way).
For the parts if you are ordering, I used the dual relay plug and 2 30A relays. I had to do a little mixing around of the wires in the plug, but it worked out fine. To make it easier, you might use just two plugs together instead of the single. Also, I'd recommend buying for future relay plans as the shipping will damn near exceed the cost of the pars if you are just getting these.

I am a firm believer in relays and that is why I built a special hidden 24 relay panel into my car to control all the electronics. All these new modern upgrades not only tax the factory alternator on early cars, they also draw more current than the original wiring was designed to carry. For this reason I use relays to control all of my add in electronics....especially halogen headlights. If you don't run relays currently feel the wires and switch after they have been on a while. They get really hot and this can lead to fire. Relays are cheap insurnace that are easy to incoporate into your car's wiring.
