Im looking to find out some more info about this guys tranmissions (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&item=7941203325&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT) before I buy one...it says something about having a different cluster than the regular T-5's so it supports more power....Im looking to make about 400 HP at the wheels, could this tranny be an option? BTW im comparing this option to just rebuilding my T-5 because I cant afford to expensive of a tranny right now.....thanks

If there is nothing broken in your trans, you should rebuild it yourself, it is not difficult if you are mechanically inclined. The trans in the ad is nothing but a 1990 T5, he has added no extra strength parts. So you would be buying a stock rebuilt trans. T5s have several ratings.86-87 are rated at 265ft/lbs,88-89 are rated at 285,90-93 are rated at 300,93+Cobra T5s are rated at 310, and T5Z's(aftermarket from FMS and other suppliers) are rated at 330ft/lbs. You can buy the upgraded shafts and bearing retainers and install them in your own trans. Visit Tremec's web site(they own the T5 now) and download the free service manual. This guys trans is just a rebuilt 90 T5, he has not added anything special to it, just replaced broken parts.

Spend more $$ up front and less down the road. Check out the Tremecs and then sell your T-5. I really caution anyone on buying a used tranny. If it is problematic then you have to rip it out over and over again. Not the most fun job.

You could pick up an older 3550 which would suit you just fine. Check out the Tremec site http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/products/tremec.asp
for their new trannys. The TKO500 and TKO600 and the new models. The 500 has a gear ratio closer to stock while the 600 can handle a bit more ft lbs. If you really want a great tranny chek out http://www.x2cmotorsports.com/tranny_shop.shtml. They take a new tko500 or 600 and do some upgrades to the internals. The result is a very strong tranny. I have also heard good things about G-force but haven't really researched them. From my understang, they use the stock t-5 housing which I don't want to do. Although, I think they are located in PA. Anyway, good luck
