Fox Looking To Buy A Foxbod Question On Value

I have been looking for a fox for a while and finally found what I think is a good one, just want some feedback on price he wants 7800

'91 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Sport Hatch SuperCharged, 5 speed manual Transmission, 8 cylinder 5.0L engine, only 106k miles, Power Windows, Power Mirrors, Power Lock Doors, , Sunroof, Gray Leather Seats (great condition), Air Conditioning, CD Player, Alloy Wheels, rear spoiler, no accidents, no rust GARAGE kept, no problems, good tires. Engine mods: HPC shorty headers, 2.5 cat converters, 2.5 exhaust kit, muffler, Kenne Bell 5 psi supercharger, 80 mm mass air + switch chip, Kenne Bell 70 mm Throttle body, ford 3.73 diff gear set... and many more. We have all factory parts removed from engine and they all go with the sale. One Owner vehicle. The car its in beautiful condition inside and outside and it runs great. Hard to find one in condition like this and lots of upgrades done to it !!!

Check the Kelly Blue Book for your car. You would be better off selling the blower separate and putting the stock intake tract back on it. Get that FMU out of there too.

Depending no how clean it really is in person, I would say $3k-$4k if the motor is running really strong and there are no leaks anywhere. A/C and heat too.

You can sell the blower kit and get $1500 ish is my guess. Those blowers tend to hold there value pretty well. If it's a 2.4L blower and the Flowzilla inlet, it could be more. I think that's what you've got there because the other inlet had an external bypass tube that ran between the manifolds.

IF it's the small 1.7L kit with no bypass at all... Someone will buy it. Great blower for a bone stock Fox of you don't want any other upgrades.

I think it's a $5000 car and maybe $1000-1500 more with the Kenne Bell,but the wheels offset the price increase of the blower
A lot depends on the market in a given area.The car maybe worth less down south or out west where clean examples are more common,up here I will pay more for a clean car for not having the added expense/stress of shipping.

I think this particular car will be for sale for a while at the asking price,if you like everything about the car(color,options,mods)offer him $6000 and stand firm.

Now if it was a coupe..........

In my opinion it's worth what your willing to pay for it, do you have 7,800 bucks? If you've having a hard time finding a clean Fox then I'd probably make an offer. 3-4 thousand dollars is what the common opinion is on these cars but not in the North East, they're either junk or close to it for that. Even if you got a clean one for 4 grand you would still have to add the cost of installing the gears, super charger ( can you do it?) and all the other goodies.

If your worried about resale..don't. After most cars are fiddled with your not gonna get back what you put in it anyway. I sold my car in 2004 for 4 grand and bought it back in 2013 for 6,900, because that's what it was worth to me to get it back.....well and the prior owner was my buddy who put a ton of work into the car.

I'm in Chicago and its hard to find a clean rust free mustang, also to find one that still has a/c on it. I have been watching craigslist for how long car last up here in Chicago and there was one for 6500 that had a built engine, but the interior was shot and needed body work on th 1/4 panel that lasted 2 weeks , then a bone stock very clean grey gt was listed for 6000 and that did not last a weekend

Yeah up here it's probably worth 6-6500$. I don't think I'd pay more than that. Looks like a clean car...but like posted above I'd loose those wheels

After I read the description when I scrolled down to see the engine pics I was expecting cleaner.

Price depends on where you are and other comparable cars for sale. Sounds like you don't have many to pick from, so if the rest of them are all messed up, not sure you have too many choices.
I think it could be a $6500 car. I think 91's came with pony wheels, maybe he still has them?

What's you're location? It can make as much as $3000 difference in the price, despite the value some people will claim they're worth here.

Also consider mods. People can say they'll make no difference in price all they like, but when you consider the cost of labour and all of the odds and ends before it's turn key, you'll be in for far more than $1,500 into a used Kenne Bell.

Around here, that car would probably
Go for more than $7,800.

located in Chicago, I have been looking at craigslist for a good 6 months and it seems for 4500 you get a upper end beater, 5500 you get a nice auto, for 7000 you get a nice 5 speed, and for the wheels I always liked the 93 cobra wheels so I would keep them until the tires are bad then upgrade

That car's clean. I'd buy it! It's hard to find a well kept, clean, one owner Fox these days. If I was looking for another, I'd rather spend more $ for a nice car like that one than to spend less for a beater that needs work. Over the years I've owned and restored 3 of these things but nowadays I've become lazy.

If it were me, I'd try to negotiate it down a little and see what the owner will do. But one way or another that car would go home with me.

As said over and over, your area (much like @Gearbanger 101 's area) have prices are much different than other areas and value is higher. A little cleaning under the hood, floor mats and some new wheels and that car is super sweet with lots of power already. Some people just don't take into consideration how much time it takes to rebuild a beater and how frickin expensive it is.

That K&N intake filter needs to be addressed, it's filthy and needs to run through the passenger fender to get cold clean air!!

This decision is entirely about the buyer. When they've been modified, you have to decide if it fits your tastes. Me? I'd rather start with a clean stocker with lower miles on it for $8k, or I'd go for one that has been modded in a way that I approve. I don't like this one's wheels, blower, or mileage.

Blower: Guys with a fox that blown think that the blower makes it worth so much more. I don't. This car *might* be in the 260-270rwhp range. It's not pushing much more than that. That's a decent amount of power in a car as light as a fox, but you're still running a blown mustang that can't get out of its own way compared to something newer. If I'm running forced induction, I want to be able to keep up with the latest factory options.

Wheels: fugly

Mileage: This is the biggest factor to me. I don't want a car that's always going to be a problem with all the little knick-knacks breaking. If there's anything I could redo, it would have been starting off with a cleaner fox. I got mine with something like 110k miles. It was clean, and it had some nice parts, but I ended up replacing most of those nice parts anyway. What I ended up with is a car that needed more TLC than I wanted to deal with. Even though this car looks clean in the pictures posted, with 106k, it's bound to have issues that are not obvious unless you're there.

I think mileage is a moot point for theses cars. If you plan on driving it, count on replacing parts whether it's got 50,000-miles, or 250,000-miles. The youngest Fox body is now 23-years-old. These cars will literally rot in place if not stored properly. Brakes, rubbers, shocks, body panels, electrical components, etc are all subject to time.

If you found one that's been sitting in a vacuum sealed bubble most of its life, then go ahead and get picky. Otherwise.....market value and personal preference is going to dictate what it's worth.

Sure, yeah... there's no difference between a car whose suspension, accessories, and interior has 250,000 miles vs. 50,000. Suddenly in a car's old age, everything changes.

For me, if I'm thinking about paying $8k for a fox-body like the OP... I'm being picky.
