Im looking to get my car painted around this time next year, hopefully. After I get a few things done to it first.Im looking at either,Silver, greyish,or sonic blue. What kind of price should I be looking at for a good paint job,I dont want no Maco Special.I know prices will vary just looking in the ballpark,as Im sure someone here has had one done before.I really dont like black, hot as hell, hard to keep clean, and back in '05 it was hit and his insurance would not pay for the whole car to get painted, just the damaged stuff, well you can guess old black and newer black dont match exactly. But i got it cuz the price was good,I got it in may '03 for $14000.00,when most were going for 19k.

if ur paint doesnt match now then the shop didnt do something right when they fixed it, it should match especially being black. i run a body shop and we partial paint cars all the time and do not have matching issues and im extremely picky about it. as far as painting it all over with a good quality paint job ur looking at about 3-4k and even more if u want to change the color. ur better off selling it and buying one thats the color u want rather than paying to change the color.

Well the older paint has a slight ashy look to it,maybe they were suppose to cut the older paint,I really dont mind spending some for paint,I dont wanna sell it or buy another, besides if my uncle still has his contacts in Houston I can probably get a good deal,he used to build alot of show cars, just havnt talked to him in awhile, and if I get someone else to do it I wouldnt have to do alot of the prep work,my uncle always did his own prep.I guessed prob around 3k.

Yea from what I've heard black is the easiest to match. I am getting my whole car painted now but I am not changing the color. Changing the color of your car Is very expensive when done right! If your going to change the color of you whole car you looking at 6,000 or more!

Im curious as to what they are charging you.I got an estimate of around 3k.They are very reputable in the area, they been around for 40years,they use PPG paint. They didnt give me a quote for a different color. Also was curious if they were stripping the old paint or going over the older.

for 3k with an all over using ppg i would imagine they are sanding it enough to get the new paint to bite, taping everything up and shooting it. at my shop with an all over we take the whole car apart and paint it in pieces and strip and prime it and block it. we also charge more than 3k lol.

Yeah the shop i asked said they pull it apart, seal it put back together, thats just a rough estimate i got he said prob about 3500 to keep tha same color. The last shop that did mine didnt do a great job, like on the passenger door you can see where the edge is chipping. They used PPG.But the one I checked into ive seen several cars they have done and they do look good, when I get ready for it I will do alot more checking into it.Im just trying to get a good idea of what I need to look out for now.Curious what state your in,Tx sometimes is cheaper than some other states on things.

Black is the easiest color to match. I had a body shop do a fender and bumper for my car, and they never even saw the car. I would look into just doing a good cut and buffing. I think you would get the POP you want with your car. The ashy apperance (clouding clear) is normal with paint that needs to be buffed good. Black can look killer, with the right care

I do agree with it looking killer.Ok then me ask this.Should I just take it in and have the good buffed and the bad redone, meaning the door, fender, and front cover that was done isnt good..plus the hood needs new paint..would that be wise,im thinking at this moment just to have it redone. When its light out I can take some pics to show what i mean by the bad areas from where they painted. Its like the paint isnt holding to the body well, leading edges are chippng. The car is paid for and runs good and I dont wanna get rid of it until it just falls apart, even then ill just rebuild...lol.
