Will loose 1.7 Crane roller rockers cause a random missing while driving at 1500rpm or so with light pedal pressure just keeping up with traffic? I have cleared ALL codes and re-checked that they were gone for good, changed coil, maf, distributer, ignition module, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, O2's, fuel filter, adjusted fuel pressure (40psi with AFPR and recent high performance fuel pump), adjusted timing to 15 degrees spout out and put spout back, added dry gas, added BG44K fuel injector cleaner, gave it all time to work in, etc... the stutter is still there. The idle used to be nice at 750rpm and it has dropped to 600 and wants to cut off at stop signs. I had a bunch of extra parts laying around so I swapped out everything I could think of and still no change in performance - car has PLENTY of power still but the stutter is driving me nuts. The only thing I can think is that I have noticed some rocker arm noise lately - it quieted down a bit with some Marvel Mystery Oil but I can still hear it but I hear that it is normal to have rocker noise with 1.7 rollers, e303 cam, Crane roller lifters, Crane high performance valve springs, hardened push rods, etc...

Highly doubt it's the rocker situation, unless you recently did something with them?....Have you done anything recently, or it just started sputtering out of nowhere? You cleared the codes but what codes did you have before you cleared them and what codes do you have now.....I would put the timing down to 10degrees (stock) 15 is too high in my opinion for street gas, and would be another thing to rule out if you put it down to 10. I think it's your MAF, my car has done the exact same thing, been down that road before.....Take off the black top of it with the two screws and clean it with electrical part cleaner, or I just use Brake cleaner and let dry completely. I would almost bet that's what's causing it but a little more info about the codes might help.

MAF was cleaned and changed with another one from my other car, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributer, ignition module & coil have all been changed. I have also adjusted timing up and down - same thing happens. I use 93 octane and have been since the engine was rebuilt 25k miles ago. There has been an intermittant sputter over the 25k miles but this is much more regular - it runs great with lots of power but at cruise it sputters every few seconds now. There is a bit of rocker arm noise and honestly I cannot say if it was there or not all this time. Car has E303 cam, 1.7 rollers, Crane springs, Crane roller lifters, hardened push rods (all installed 25k ago on rebuild) 19# injectors, AFPR, 70mm MAC throttle body & EGR, 76mm C&L MAF, Edelbrock Peformer intake, etc.... The codes were KOEO 34 (I changed out the EGR and it is gone now) and KOER 41 (I changed out the right oxygen sensor and it is gone now) I then cleared the codes and drove the car quite a bit. I re-checked the codes after all this - all I get is the pass codes 11 now.

situation solved - fixed the rocker arm noise by tightening them - not nearly as noisy but stutter was still there - turns out the BRAND NEW WIRES were BAD! All is well now.
