I just bought a hard tonneau cover for my vert and since those will need to eb stashed in the trunk I will need to lose the subs. If I replaced all 4 stock speakers can I get close to the bass of my 2 10" subs? I dont need all the abss but what brand speakers would give me good bass?

you will have to find some great speakers to get the bass that you had from your 10s id find some way to keep at least one 10 otherwise you will be let down. ANDY

Goodluck finding 4 speakers that will out perform 2 10's.
Subs were made for a purpose.

You could maybe get a couple 8"s in the back, if you wanted to do a little custom work to fit them in. With the right ones, you could get decent bass. A pair of RE 8"s would give pretty good bass with the right power, from what I hear.

Now, if you're set on using stock size replacements....I think you're out of luck.

edit: Now that I think about it, I think Focal makes a 5 1/4 or 6 1/2" "sub"....it's not meant to be a midbass, but an actual sub. Seems like I remember it getting pretty decent reviews. Don't remember what it's called, though.

Im not really lookin to replace the bass completely. Perhaps I could get a custom box done but with the cd changer back there, and the new covers...space is VERY tight. Ill see what I can squeeze in there with a custom box.

For all you owners of the Mach 1000...anyone able to fit their covers in teh trunk with the mach 1000 amp/subs?

Joker's right about the RE8's. Feed a couple about 125-150 RMS, and you should be happy. They have a low fs, and a couple tuned to about 35-40Hz, should sound pretty good. With replacement size speakers, you'll never get the low-end you'll get from the 10's. Your best bet would be to get a set of 6.5" components for the front and completely deaden and seal the door. If you don't, you won't get nearly the amount of midbass you could have. Give the fronts about 100 watts RMS, and give the 8's about 150. Just run the stock rears or get some CDT CL-5x's and run them off the HU. I get good midbass out of my CDT CL-61's, so that's one suggestion for the components, and I've heard that the Peerless CDC-x series from madisound.com give very good midbass, and coupled with some vifa tweets, should give you a good frontstage.

just get 1 kicker L7 10" sub and it will be loud, or you can custom make places to put 2 8" in the side of the rear seats , one on each side, dont know how much room there is in the newer stangs, but im thinging of putting 2 12"s in the trunk of my 90 vert an 2 8"s where the stock 6"x8"s go.......

but ive heard this one car with a 10" kicker L7 sub and sound like it had 2 12" just awsome, but i think he had 500wrms to it, there power hungry
