Well if you wanna know the fuel pressure at idle, I would check it while idling!!!

The reason you want to check it at idle is because the fuel pressure will be lower with idle vaccuum but as soon as the accelerate the vaccuum will drop causing fuel pressure to rise. If you have a bad regualator you will have too much pressure at idle causing it to load up.

WE HAVE A WINNER....When checking everything under the hood...and checking a plug or 8...I found 2 bad plug wires and a crack in my distributor...so I wonder if that is my problem....hhhmmmmm

i got an adjustable fuel pressure reg from chung and a mach. gauge all for around $150. you do need to check for pressure with it running at least on mine i did.even tho you found the prob. it would still be a good idea to get the gauge and the regulator. peace
