Hey guys,

So, I recently had a P.I. 3200 converter installed and we threw it on the dyno to get a base read before I install SLP LongTubes on Monday. Now, my numbers were already fairly low for my mods( in my opinion) but I was severely disappointed to see a loss of 10hp and 20 tq. With the mods in my sig, I pulled 268hp and 299tq on a Mustang Dyno. So, given the numbers are down because of the type of dyno, I didn't want to see those numbers fall anymore. I will admit, the tuner and I went out and ragged on it for about 30min trying to set the ideal rpm/speed for the converter to lock right before we went on...but is this normal?? Is there really that much of a power loss by adding a larger converter?

Thanks

Dyno #'s aren't really good for anything other than conversation. Does the car feel stronger? IMO, the best comparison would be your before/after timeslips.

The car feels stronger throughout the entire RPM band versus just up high with the stock converter. It was definitely a good buy, I'm not regreting anything, just seeing those numbers drop made me feel like crap.

Sounds normal to me. Higher stall converters generally aren't quite as efficient and suck a bit more power. You'll gain in the quarter mile though. You'll probably gain a bit of ET and give up about 1 mph. The difference on the street will be nice too, no matter what gear or speed you are going, you'll have more power on tap.
