Find a 12 point craftsman socket smaller than the lug and a hammer. Keep in mind you'll need a breaker bar, as well.

the ford locks on these cars have the "key" on the inside and the outside surface is smooth. I dont think the socket trick will work in this case

On my '93 I just hammered, I mean hammered cuz it is a very tight fit, the 12 point on and spun the lug nut loose with my breaker bar. Takes some doing to get the socket off. The 12 points inside the socket will actually form little grooves in the smooth surface and will allow it to grip the lug nut.

Are you talking about the key for the locking lug nuts? I thought you could just go to Ford or NAPA and get one that matches the locking lug nut.

yeah give a tire shop a try...they usually have some various keys lying around the shop....if not give it a try with your impact gun.....hammer away and crank on it....give a breaker bar a try too.....if all else fails go back to the tire shop and they will get it off.....

Don't just start banging away. Put some masking tape on the lip and all around. Socket or something falls it may chip the chrome.

When you guys refer to a "12-point" socket. Is there a special size to get, or is there only one?

12-point just means it has 12 "facets" or points that contact the bolt in question. You will need to find one that is just ever-so-slightly smaller than the diameter of the lug lock.

They make 6, 8, 12-point and maybe other sockets, for example, my Craftsman 500+ peice set has most sizes up to 32MM or 1 1/4" in 6/8/12-point. You get better contact on a bolt with a 12-point than a 6, right?

My budie dave just broke my key when we were gonna put the bullits on. His friends ben came over and hammered the key back into shape and it worked fine. Or just go to a shop. They can do it no problem. Just dont pay over $15 if you can.

If you know the code, you can order a new key from McGard. If not, Ford has a master set that MAY contain the right key. I'd give that a try first. May save some headaches of pounding and chisiling.

The only master sets I've seen are 6 different sized sockets, smooth bored, and tapered. Haven't seen anything different, would imagine the a master set would contain way to many sockets for all the different combinations that it wouldn't be worth it. The just hammer/wedge the socket on, only difference is it doesn't mar the exterior of the lug nut. I have heard that you can make a template of the lug nut and send it to McGard if you don't know what the specific code is and they'll get you a new key.

If it's a factory lock nut then the dealer has the key for them or can order you a new one. Tire shops also have keys for them most of the time as well since many people also loose their's as well and when it comes time for a tire change the shop has to use something to get them off. A good shop will have the tools and the others will just use the big red hammer.

You could take a grinder with a cut off wheel and made a slot in the lug nut. Then there is a special socket thats used for struts, it looks like a socket with a flat blade on it. Try and make it fit the slot.
