Lost my Keys

I lost the keys to my 97 cobra. Does this car have the pats system on it with the programmed key? Or can I take one of my door locks to a locksmith to have another key made?

if you have a tuner then the pats can be disabled with that. the trunk lock would be easier than the drivers door, to take to the locksmith, if i remember right. once the pats is disabled, that is. i know people will chime in against disabling the pats but really nobody would even know about it. if you want you could always wire a kill switch in via the inertia switch in the trunk.

otherwise youll have to pay the dealer to reprogram it.

hope this helps!

my son lost his keys to his ranger. found a locksmith that came to the truck and make a new pats key for $180. was cheaper than towing to dealer and paying them to do it. I would not disable pats imho.

did you loose the only key to your car? if so then you will have to have it towed to the dealership or call a locksmith.

otherwise i would pick up a new/uncut key on ebay for 20 bucks (dealer wants $45, i asked them last time i was there) then they will charge $50 for labor to cut and program the key.

seems pretty retarded if you ask me charging 50 bucks for 5 minutes worth of work...but if you need another key....they can rape you like that.
