Lost power, need help

He's saying it doesn't matter if the distributor was put in 1 tooth off. You could turn it enough to make up for being one tooth off. If your timing light says you're at 20*, you're at 20* whether or not the dizzy's a tooth off.

Of course make sure you aren't using an adjustable timing light, thinking it's a regular one.

Jeff

So if I am a tooth off it could be acting as though the timing were slightly retarded, even though i have advanced the dizzy 20*?
Tomarrow my adjustable fuel pressure regulator will be here with gauge so it should tell us if the FP is or is not the problem.
Wouldn't it be nice to put it on there and see it low, turn the screw and everything be back to good:rolleyes:

If you see the timing marking pointing at 20° on the balancer when the light flashes then you are at 20° no matter where your dizzy is stabbed.

The light flashes when the #1 plug has juice on it, and shows you where the #1 piston is in relation to the balancer... doesn't matter where the dizzy is stabbed, that only effects how much timing you can add/subtract by moving the dizzy.

My thought is that you need to go back and readjust the pre-load on your rockers now that things have had a chance to settle in.

You may be a hair too tight and preventing the valves from fully seating.
