Lots of mods and no improvment?

Heres the scoop,

Freinds/Previos perfomance mods to a 2001 GT 5pd
3.90 gears, CAI, Mac o/r H, 2 chamber Flows and Nitto DR's

VS

Me/2000 GT 5spd just K&N, Procamber, 2 chamber flows and Kuhmos

1st gear punch 2001 pulls 1/2 a car then my 2000 gt pulls and passes
mid 3rd gear.

Next round of Mods on the 2001 GT

Mac Long tubes, Procamber and an Accufab 75mm TB.

Same results from a 1st gear punch.

What could be holding back the performance from these mods?
Could it be a bad MAF?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I don't think the CAI would cause the car to lose that much power. A GT with those mods shouldn't have any trouble against a stock GT. If it were the CAI, your friend should've noticed a drop in HP right off the bat after the install. It could've messed up the A/F ratio, but that kind of drop would be noticeable.

First thing I'd do is switch cars and see who wins. I would be willing to bet he doesn't know how to get the power out of that car. If that doesn't work, then I'd say something is wrong with the car. You never know, his car may just need to be tuned. Some cars just don't adapt well to mods with the stock tune. His may be one of them.

There are several things that could be going on...but I know one thing...I'd be finding out what was going on with my car if I couldn't beat a stock GT with those mods.

I would rate our driving skills as equal. When we go from a stop he kills me(Nittos and 3.90's) but from a punch his 3rd gear power seems week and that is where I can catch and pass him(good for me!)
We will try the car switch and see what happens.

Would a faulty MAF throw a code?

Thanks for your replies!
