loudest set of flowmasters???

Flows don't sound bad at all. Drone is overrated on the boards. The next chambered muffler I buy will be mac flo paths. I tend to like them better then flows but both sound great.

+1 on that. I had Flowpaths on my last 'Stang and I loved them. I'm considering trying a set of the "Pro Dumps" that Mac makes next.

My car has drone SO bad when I'm in 5th gear at anything less than 55. I've had people tell me that they don't even mind the 'spirited' way that I drive, it's the drone and my stiff ass suspension that makes them not want to ride with me.

if you like the sound of a garbage truck rollin through, certainly get the slp's. i run a 2.5" exhaust from the stock headers back through magnaflow high flow cat's and then through flowmaster super 44's and i think it sounds awesome. the drone is nothing awful like when i was running no cats at all.

If you like the way they sound go for it. For me, I have flow 40's with a mac pro chamber and I wouldn't have it any other way.

In fact, I bought my stang brand new when I was in highschool and living in chicago with the parents. They have been on there for damn near 10 years and the car back in the day saw chicago winters because it was my only car. And chicago winters = lots of salt. They saw 4 winters out there, one in CO where they use chemicals instead of salt. Though the car doesn't see daily driving or salt here in CA anymore if there's a test, that's it. They are still performing great and I have no need to replace them. So when they say better quality they probably mean look prettier. No different than me saying kenne bell sux just because I prefer a NOS or centri set up.

I'm gonna call BS on those numbers. I don't doubt that they had the right intentions, but I somehow doubt the methods. Yea, I would surely agree that going from a chambered muffler (Flowmaster, Mac, etc.) go a straight through (Borla, Bassani, Magnaflow) that you would gain some power (although you'd NEVER notice 3 hp....); it makes sense: take away the restriction and gain power.

But gain almost 10 hp and 3 tq (or any number in between) by going from no restriction (no mufflers) to a restriction (any muffler, really; that's what they do)? .....

Ever wonder why so many people run Flowmasters? Could it possibly be because an overwhelming majority of people out there think they sound good? I can honestly say that I've NEVER heard anyone say, "Hey, those Flowmasters sound like chit." Although I have heard that about other exhausts out there...

Flowmasters are fine if you're looking for inexensive, don't mind drone, are alright with leaving a little bit of power on the table (in more extreme builds) and don't mind replacing them every few years (their non stainless design).

I hear they can be had in a stainless steel option now, but quite frankly if I'm going to pay that kind of money for an exhaust system, there are a lot better choices to choose from.

As for the sound.....that's subjective. One man's "trash" is another mans "awesome". Make no mistake though....the interior resonance when running down the highway does get madning after a while and IMO offsets their muscley sound to the point I would never buy them. Mac's are in the same boat.

Listen.....I did in fact call out your BS because that's what it is, BS.... Without even saying so I and probably everyone else that read your post knew you didn't like the way they sounded so then you decide to bash the company if favor of brands you think sound better. I just happened to be the one to say something. So your response, instead of letting it die when you know you're wrong is to come on here and post up confirming that you unfairly bashed the quality of their product because you didn't like the sound.

And if that's not enough you post up some garbage numbers, providing more info like in your first post that have nothing to do with what the original poster was looking for. I mean come on.... how many threads you see about people buying a muffler because they want an extra 1 or 2 hp?

I will repeat there's nothing wrong with flows quality. I would choose them again, irregardless of price..... To me, the combination of flows with a pro chamber is the most sublime sound in the car world maybe only to be rivaled by some 60's mopars. The car sounds hollow, kinda like it's in a tunnel the whole time......absolutely sublime with the cam and blower. Heck, I have a 408 ci Highly highly modded c5, kooks headers, x pipe and corsa's.....it sounds like a friggin nascar and pretty damn cool, but it can't even hold a candle to the stang in the sound dept

Atmospheric conditions could account for the differences in power. I am sure it took a little amount of time to take off and put on other mufflers. There is only a 4 hp difference between the Flows and Bassani. An eleven second Windsor based car will show more difference between the mufflers rather then our cars. A sub 300 hp car won't be seeing huge gains from a muffler swap. Purely sound and that is objective.

+1.... Just preference....I do agree they sound good, but lots of people around here run them on their stangs. So there for, the sound gets old. But they are a great muffler. Just my .02.

To the op:: The 1 chambers sound the loudest in my opnion, as some have stated

I for one think flowmasters sound awesome, the only thing that deters me from them is the fact that they are so popular and i like to try to be different. Some people like the sound of a good ol' chambered muffler/muscle-car sound and some people like the straight through designs/exotic sound. Its a matter of opinion, thats all. Power-wise your talking about a 1-2hp difference, at best.

Not sure which are the Loudest Op but the 40's sound Perfect with the stock midpipe, but if u change that out you might be searching for something different than a chambered muffler.
