My low cool light keeps coming on. It will come on once in awhile. But for the most part it is always on. Now I have check the coolant level (obviously) and it is prefectly level and fine. Any ideas? Maybe a faulty indicator in the coolant?

Before you unplug anything or buy anything new,
this problem does come up a lot in Mustangs,
This is the Fix for 99% of the problems,
Take out the sensor, ate the bottom you will see 2 Metal Spades (looks like a fuse or spade conenctor)
CLEAN THEM!!
Get some good quality brake/carb cleaner if you have to,
Give them a good cleaning, use a wire brush if you have to, make sure you dont snap them off,
and Bingo! Problem solved,
the sensor just gets dirty most of the time and throws the LOW COOLANT crap in your face
hope that fixes your problem

Starscream88 hit the nail on the head. You said the coolant level was OK and I was just curious as to whether you meant in the radiator or the overflow tank. I had the same problem and all I had to do was fill the overflow because the sensor was above the level of the water. Whenever I shut the engine off and the car sat, the fluid in the overflow would get sucked back into the radiator, leaving the overflow almost dry. After burping the cooling system a few times that problem was fixed.

I just did this last week, also. My "low coolant" light kept coming on, mostly at first crank-of-the-day, and would stay on until the car was shut off and then cranked back up when warmed up. I kept checking the coolant and not only was it full, but nice and clean too. I pulled the sensor out of the overflow tank (with the two metal prongs as mentioned above) and the whole thing was covered in green moldy looking gunk. I wiped it all off with a paper towel and the warning light hasn't come on since.

Exactly. When your engine is cold-and before your crank it, fill the overflow to the "cold" mark on your reservoir. Also be sure to top off your radiator at the same time if it is low. Keep the radiator cap off and let the engine get to operating temp. As the radiator fluid begins to circulate, you may have to top off the radiator as the fluid level will go down. Someone suggested that I do this with the car at an incline (front of car higher than the back) so any bubbles would work its way to the radiator and "burp". When the fluid level evens out, you should be alright.
