the oil pressure gauge runs on the low end of the normal section of the gauge. it also fluctuates quite a bit. im thinking the oil pump, I have all the new parts does anyone know how much time is involved and the easiest way to do it?

Have you put a mechanical gauge on yet to rule out a faulty gauge? I am assuming you are referring to the stock gauge in the instrument panel?

Before you pull the motor out- and yes this is IMO the easiest way to replace the oil pump- hook up a real mechanical oil pressure gauge to the pressure sending port on the side of the block. The stock gauges are notorious for being inaccurate and the sending units often go bad.

You should have a minimum of 15 on the gauge or you have issues and under normal operating should read 35-50.

The oil pressure sender is a 6 psi switch.

I am pulling my motor soon and want to swap oil pump, pick up tube etc. Yeah pulling it is way easier than lifting the engine anyway. And plus you know that it is hooked up properly because you have plenty of room to work with.
