When is the low speed fan supposed to turn on? I thought it was whenever the heat or defrost was on. The reason i am asking is because i just installed a V-2SQ, now my low speed fan won't switch on when i have the defrost, heat or airconditioning switched on. I did crack an air-conditioning line right at the pressure switch connector during the install. So that was unplugged and left hanging. Do i need to have that connector plugged in to have the low speed fan turn on?

I know this is the 5.0 tech forum and i have a 94, but i thought you guys might also be able to help me. I also posted in the 94-95 forum, thanks.

It should definately run with the a/c or defroster.. but not the heater. There's a plug on the compressor which controls it.. so yea you should fix it and plug it back in

with no load (accessories) the low speed fan should come on at 208*F and the high speed should come on at ~226*F.

and what Andy said about it coming on with A/C, etc is correct. have you checked to see if the fan plug is connected? if you see a circuit breaker on the connector, it has been in for recall work in all probability.

you can check pin 14 on the CCRM to ensure you have 12 volts when the fan should be on (with A/C, etc).

also, many folks wire in fan switches for the low speed and high speed fan control. the low speed requires fused 12 volts (to pin 14) and high speed is at pin 17 and gets ground.

good luck.

I plugged the connector back in minus the ac line i cracked and still got nothing from the fan with the AC or defrost on. My high speed fan comes on when the car reaches temp but seems to be intermitent but the low speed will not engage at 208 at all. Everything was working fine before the install.... would me banging around the CCRM have anything to do with it? Is it that sensative to shock? I was grinding on the bracket with the box still attached. I guess the only way to find out is to test the wires.... its gonna be another long night after work The more i think about it the more i have a feeling its the CCRM or the fan itself.

having a CCRM take a dump is not unusual. it is a box of relays basically.

i would grab your DMM and probe Pin 14 with the a/c set to on or the car up over 210* and see if the DMM shows 12 volts.

if it does, the ECT is telling the CCRM to turn the fan on, but there is an issue elsewhere in the wiring. that is a real quick test to help give a direction to pursue.

do make sure that all the underhood fuses and relays function too.

good luck.
