I have the seams welded up on my uppers. I ordered a kit that bolts in for the lowers. How important is it to fully weld this kit in? Will there be any difference on the lower TB if I just bolt it in compared to bolt and weld? I wanted to weld it in but someone told me that all it needs is to be bolted in. Thanks.

I had mine bolted for a while, then I welded them. I didn't feel/hear any difference, but I had gotten rid of the reason for the cracks(SSM lift bars).

You won't need to get them welded as long as you don't have solid bushings (front and back) on your LCAs.

I don't think that you can weld the plates from the outside, only from the inside of the car.

You can weld up the factory seams and then put the boxes in.

Thanks guys. My TBs are in good shape right now, but I'm going to try to apply power and traction without catastrophe.

You want bullet proof TBs and never have to worry about them again? Do this:

1) Bolt in the TB reinforcements... wel the plate on the inside of the car (you usually can only weld down 3 of the 4 sides, thats PLENTYjust a few spot welds on at least 2 sides is fine. i have 1/2 beads on two sides and a full bead on one side.)
2) sand down and clean up the TBs. Weld ALL the seams completely, make sure they are good strong beads. weld up any cracks also. if there are cracks, take a 1/8" drill bit and put the tip of the drill bit and the end of the crack and drill it out. this will make a rounded end to the crack, and prevent them from cracking further. dont forget to fully weld up any cracks and drill holes.
3) pick up some TB plates from wolfe race craft and wled them in ( http://www.wolferacecraft.com/detail.aspx?ID=294 ) then paint or seal the TBs to prevent rust.

This would be MORE than enough for anything your going to be doing with the car.

I have the Wolfe plates already. They don't work with subframe connectors. We are going to improvise with them.
