So today i was putting on my lower controll arm torgue box reinforcements. The bolt that holds on the lower controll arm was surprissing loose. Not finger loose but it broke loose pretty easily. My question is how tight should that bolt be put on is there a torque spec? Can it be put on to tight? also now with the plate on there is only about one thread showing after I install the bolt. Does anyone install a longer bolt . Thanks.

I put my 2nd set on Thursday night and I had to use a 1/2" drive breaker bar to get the nuts loose and still had a little trouble and I can bench well over 300lbs. So I just tightened them up as tight as they were. If i remember right there's a sleeve running through the control arm so if you tighten it up pretty tight it's not gonna cause any binding of the control arm.

The torque spec on the control arm bolts is 70 to 100 ft lb from my 79 Mustang shop manual. They take an 18 mm wrench on the nut.

I have had them loosen a couple times, and I just tightened them up again.

You want the clamp the sleeve tight in the torque box, so the motion is in the bushing.

:nice, 100% corrext I would also like to add to clean the bolt and bushing really good, then apply ample amounts of anti-seize to keep them from gauling and rusting together, creating some bind.

Thanks for all the responses. One other thing I was woundering is if anyone uses a longer bolt when adding the torgue box reinforcements since you lose some threads or doesn't it matter that much ?

I would say as long as you have 2 or 3 threads showing you are safe!

Yo guys I had problems with my torque boxes on my fox mustang. I bought a couple of kits to fix the problem and still have one for sale.

It includes everything pictured, and installation instructions.

Let me know if anyone needs these...
