Lowered Car, now grinding noise?

I lowered my car and now there is a loud grinding noise when i accelerate fast and it just gets worse with the more people i have in the car. I can't figure where it's coming from. Sounds like it's coming from the back somewhere but when I checked the rear tires they seem to have plenty of clearence even with the 18s. Any suggestions?

do you have mudflaps? When you accelerate the rear end dips, it could be as simple as those grinding on the road, same thing happened to my parents Chevy. It still happens when the car is full and we go over a bumpy road.

I'm with this guy.

When it happened to me, it was just a e-brake cable bracket rubbing the driveshaft. It was only sheetmetal, so I could easily bend it back with my hand. Just look at the driveshaft for the place where it's rubbing, you'll see a ring of bare or shiney metal.

Another vote for the e-brake cable/bracket assembly hitting the driveshaft.

My car was doing it the first time I had passengers in the back and I was like, WHAT IS THAT NOISE?!

You will see a shiny ring around the driveshaft where contact is being made.

It gets worse after you lower your car.

Try bending the bracket back or getting an adjustable rear pinion snubber.

maybe the acceleration is so brutal the tailpipes are dragging when the front lifts!!

If you have put on an aftermarket cat-back, check to see if it is rubbing the axle.

OR>>> you could have your friend dangle from the trunk while someone holds his feet from inside, and he can look underneath while you ride down the street!

OK.... NO....JUST KIDDING! Mine was the e/brake bracket also. Common problem it seems. EASY fix! Good luck.

Mine makes this noise to ill check that as well...I hope thats it, because it sounds crappy.

you may have hit a road pylon and it's stuck under you're fuel tank. Check for that.

I have the same problem and I've tried several things to fix it, but I can't seem to make it go away. I pounded the bracket as far up as it would possibly go against the frame and bought some adjustable lower control arms for the rear to jack it back up just a little bit and I still have the problem. My drop wasn't anything super lower, just the Eibach Pro Kit with the pinion snubber they supplied.

I just went through this same problem also. I installed an adjustable pinion snubber and have some new spring isolators, but I have not installed those yet. It gave me about 1 1/4" space around the DS now. If you don't fix it quick, you could have problems like this.
