Where did you guys get your cars lowered, and what did you pay? I'm looking at getting Ford B springs in a month or two. How about self install? Anyone who's done it willing to help?
I installed my C springs in under 3 hours, by myself, 1st time. Rear took about an hour front took a little under 2. I used the instructions below which don't require you to disconnect the top of your strut. The hardest part was the caliper bolts as they have threadlock on them, so a breaker bar is handy. I did end up pulling the back springs out about 2 weeks later and cutting a half coil from the top with a 4" angle grinder (Ford said it's OK on the paper that comes with the springs). One month later the drop is 1.5" in front and 1" in rear (rear only dropped 0.5" before cutting springs).
Did my Eibach Pro Kit and Tokico Premium S/S in my garage at home. Did it for the first time by my self. Took me a couple days working a total of 6 hours. More beer drinking than working. Save yourself the money and do it yourself. You will need a couple jacks, jack stands air tools if you have them and typical sockets and wrenches. I used a spring compressor that I rented at Kragen on LA ave.
My dad isn't the most mod friendly guy... especially if it involves me tearing my car apart by myself. Anyone willing to donate a garage and their time to help me out? I'll buy you lunch and a 6 pack. Well, you'll have to buy the 6 pack because I'm not 21, but I'll pay for it
If I was closer I'd help ya out. PS a spring compressor is not necessary, if you follow the instruction above the springs are not under tension when you remove them. A large screwdriver, or prybar is all you need to help the springs off there perch. I used a flat prybar about 12-14 inches, the kind used for pulling nails.
I'll be glad to help you out - tools, equipment and elbow grease. But can't do the garage. You can do it in a drive way or street if you folks won't let you use the garage.
