I had an 00 Z/28 that I added an LS6 intake/comp 918 springs,pushrods,221/221/560/560 "baby" cam/shifter/4.10's/12 bolt/ASP pulley/kooks LT headers,OR y-pipe and made 415/402 RWHP and ran 11.80's at 117.9 on a drag radial.They pretty amazing.

They pretty amazing..... considering they ditched the stupid chevrolet siamese port cylinder heads for a FORD design that they elongated and called their own. LS engines are only so great because their resemble Ford small blocks now. My brother was pretty pissed when my mild 306 was just as fast as his 350 built to snot. I could also hang with stock LS1's all day, in a car I paid no more than 3k for including all the upgrades. Upgraded LS1? it would beat me, but so what? Lots of money, far more design upgrades, I mean hell, the stock heads have just as big of runners as our aftermarkets do.

What?

Someone stated before that a high mileage LS1 can be had for 5k. I could easily build a better 302/331/347 that would smoke the snot out of an LS1 for less than 5k.

Dollar to dollar, the LS1 will put out more power and Have better street manners. Im not trying to start a flamewar or anything, but thats just the truth. GM has a LOT of R&D in that motor.

The production heads flow an amazing amount right out of the box.

A stock ls1 can trap 107-109 mph average with a good driver. So doing this with 5k and cruising down the highway and pushing 30 mpg while handling better and riding smoother.

So let us say you buy a 5.0L for $2,000. This 5.0L is not going to be in the best shape, but for sake of argument, throw a decent h/c/i package. The Trickflow package cost $2,500. Now you need exhaust, maf, injectors, so this is likely to push you over $5,000 with similar straightline performance.

I have posted some of the features of an ls1 before. Maybe I will do it later...

I'm not sure what they are trying to prove, The LS is a superior motor. If anything they should compare it to a 351 with aluminium heads and still its 20+ years gap in technology, the LS will probably have a slight edge. They should be talking to a terminiator owner and still they will cry supercharger. Honestly the 03/04 mach 1 with DR and suspension are about the same 1/4 time as a cobra... maybe they should poke at one of those.

Here it is summed up.

A Fox Body is slow compared to a LS1 based vehicle. Get over it.

5.0 vs LS1

Ive took down a few stock LS1's and LT1's since Ive been in the mustang hobby. For a good LS1 car your gonna pay anywhere from 10,000 to 18,000. Ive got maybe 7000.00 in my 5.0 and I'll race any stock LS1 with no worry. Sure its gonna require some bolt ons but it can be done with nothing major. I run low 12's through a 1/4 with a couple thousand dollars worth of parts. Ive owned a 11 second LT1 corvette and after playing around with a fox body I wouldnt trade it for the world.

Yea - the king of conformity (Daggar) is no longer here to move all the threads around. Guess it's up to Raggy or 5L5. One of them will move it.

Bottom line is you can make any car go faster then the next guy. Hell I have seen bugs that I wouldn't want to race. Let guys talk smack. If you can beat them then do so and post video of you doing it.

Thought i would throw my two cents in. I have a 86 T-top GT with a few mods.
Like cobra intake ,24lbs inj, holly heads ,X-cam and headers with h-pipe.
before i put my gears in my boss 99 ls1 would beat me bearly after i put my gears in .
3.90 and a good set of tires he cant touch me. And he has all the bolt on you would expect . And he hates me on the bottle.
