Correction....the newest 5.0 you can get in a mustang is in a 95 Model. Just a tip of advice Ryan, I am a Ford Advocate, big fan, big passion. However, a true car nut appreciates most vehicles, not one specific model and make. Chevy makes great vehicles, so does ford, and rarely, but occasionally Dodge. I think most people could open their minds up a little bit. If I went rollin' by you in a Chevelle (or insert any great chev/dodge/ford) you would stop in your tracks to admire it, not go "what a piece of ____".

I love how most people with a bias to one brand are usually young guys who havent owned any other vehicle. Notice how the guys who owned LS1 are saying they are great motors, and in great cars.

I like Fbodies as well as Mustangs. And when you compare them reliability wise its hard to say ones better than the other. For every good Ford there are bad ones, and the same goes for GMs!

I'll bet an ls1 lasts longer and makes more power with more gas mileage than any of fords 4.6 motors.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the cocky ls1 owners, and I'm going to take him down or blow the damn car up trying. I'm not a chevy guy, but I love all cars. My bias is to ford, but the lsX is the pinnacle of performance v8's currently imo. Say 5.4 blown all day, but in the end, the c6 z06 makes lunch of the gt500 and can give a ford gt the run for it's money. N/A at that, and gets 25mpg highway. It just pisses me off that ls motors are automatically pos just because their pathetic owners.

It might be a fairer comparison if the gt500 dropped 800 pds

True, but it weighs close to 4k pounds, and thats how it is. Don't get me wrong, I think the 5.4 with the blower is sweet, but I see a different path that ford could have taken which would have shaved some weight at least on the motor. While I think most of chevys cars are ugly, they done that motor right. It proved that a pushrod motor is still a very competitive v8 motor in all aspects, from performance to fuel economy to durability. Of course it's hard to beat the old pushrods in terms of durability, but the ls1 is up there. My little 302 has been through hell with me, but it keeps on going and runs strong as hell.

Saying a Ford motor lasts longer... and then saying in your opinion means nothing if you dont own both with the same care and same mileage then how could you possibly know?

Personally we have had GM motors that were junk, and ones that wouldnt quit. Also had Ford motors that went bad and ones that run hard! Its a toss up in my eyes!

true, i understand what your sayen.. and no ive never fallowed 2 new cars till the death's... but ive seen Cars come and go, and imo, fords last longer! just cuz i own a ford.. doesnt mean that i love fords! it was 50/50... i was looken for a z28 before i bought my mustang, infact 2 days before i found the stang i was about to put a down payment on a t/a lt1.. either would have been faster then a 5.0... i went on a gut feeling and bought what i thought would be best! happend to be a fox bodie!

Your right looks just like a Geo Storm .

And anyone that says a TA isn't one of the best looking cars on the road is on crack. Not saying it's the best looking car but to say it's remotely ugly is stupid.

The LS1 is just as strong as the 302 i believe and there are quite a few 100+k LS1's running around that run just as good as they did with 10k on them.

ws6 Meanest looking car of all time imo. My father has always been strictly general motors, and I am the first to own a Ford. I agree with 25thmustang, you can get good and bad in both. The mildly built 350 in our motorhome has over 300k on it and still runs very strong, never thinks about a puff of smoke or a tick My truck has 160k on it and runs incredibly strong, even the 700r4 is still good! . We've never had an engine failure with all the GM vehicles we've owned, and I guess it's time to see if the same can be said for the only Ford in the family.
