When I went to the dealer this morning, I was informed that the dealership with the Comp Orange was refusing to do a dealer trade!

When I started this process Saturday, I was originally looking for a deep impact blue, there was only 1 available in the extended inventory and that dealer said he had a potential buyer so he was unwilling to work with us. That is when I settled for the Competition Orange one.

After the bad news this morning, I asked my sales guy if they could try again with the blue one in hopes that it didn't get sold and the dealer would trade it. They still had it and they did the trade!!!

So even though my day started off bad, everything worked out perfectly. It is on its way here right now...

The only thing is... That other dealer installed white racing stripes on the car... I am not really a racing stripe kind of guy, so the dealer agreed to meet me in the middle and only charged me half for the stripes... Bad thing is, I'm probably going to have them removed before I take it home. I don't mind throwing that $170 away though, I really wanted a blue prem get with pp, and I got the only one available right now! [emoji16]

Now to find a good tint shop and make a decision on the cat-back! I am probably going to get the Magnaflow Competition but I also like the MBRP... Oh decisions!

Meet you half way??? They should be pulling the stripes off and eating the cost....period. You're dropping $40k in a mustang, even after they dropped the ball!

Sweet and I agree with GB, I'd make them do it.

It wasn't their fault - that's why I cut them some slack.

From what I understand, they made a deal for a car they couldn't deliver....and now after the inconvenience, they've found you one "almost" like what you originally wanted. Whether it was because the other dealership wouldn't play ball or not was irrelevant. They made a promise to secure the vehicle before finding out if they actually could and now are unable to keep said promise and need to pay restitution for it.

Don't feel as though you're slighting them in the least. They're making enough on you with that car that eating the cost of the stripes is hardly a blip on your bottom line.

Its certainly up to you (and judging by the way you're approaching it, you've already made up your mind to take the shafting), but if I were dropping $40K of my hard earned money on a new car, it would be EXACTLY what I wanted. You're the one with the power here, not them and its their sale to "lose".....don't forget it.

Why not just go directly to the dealer that has the car you want? There is no loyalty in the car business. It is all about who can get you what you want, when you want it for the price you want. And don't compromise on the racing stripes. Your about to spend somewhere around 40K. Get exactly what you want. This is a repeat of what Gearbanger was saying...but it is a valid point.

I didn't want to drive that far. Also, I get Z-Plan pricing, so they may make a little bit of money but either way I am happy. This is actually the one I really wanted, that dealer that had it told us there was a prospective buyer for it when I asked for it Saturday. The dealership is still eating it a little anyway, they have to pay someone to professionally remove the stripes on Thursday.
