I like the sleeker lower profile look of the LX wing so it got me wondering how it would look on a GT. I'd put on a Cobra bumper too so it doesn't look so "saggy" if you know what I mean. It could look like crap, I'm just curious.

So, if anyone has seen any pics of an LX wing w/Cobra or GT bumper post them up.

My other idea is to get a Cobra wing and fabricate it so that doesnt have the two vertical posts in the middle. Kinda like the look of the notorious Roush Fox Body.

Personally I think Ford should've went vice versa on the LX/GT wings.

The SAAC Mustangs came like this.

That is a Steeda wing, not an LX. Notice how high and how far back the lip extends.

As for the GT wing, i think it's the dumbest part of the GT package. I'd either run an LX or preferrably a Cobra wing.

I dunno if that really is the Dugan wing. I think the angle makes it look longer than it really is.

These are Steeda wings; and the Dugan looks like a Saleen wing.

These come out way further, and the stripes on the black car would be more distorted. I cant find any more pics of the SAAC on the web, but I seen it in books and I still say its a LX wing. I think the high angle on the pic makes it look longer.

ehh, the taillights were the dumbest part, followed by the wing. Actually its the combo of the GT wing and bumper I dont like.

I think that's an LX wing on the SAAC. I found another picture of it on the internet.

If you do go with the LX wing/Cobra bumper I would love to see some pics. I like the 'smallness' of the LX rear, but I like the front and sides of the GT/Cobra.

I definitely will post pics when I get it done but it'll be a long way off. I'm graduating from college in June so I'm planning ahead for once I get a solid job.

Man I am in love with the stock bumper and wing on a GT combined with LX taillights. I purposely left my body 100% stock when I had it painted. Ultimately I will probably put a cowl hood on it but the back is totally fine, IMO. I know many will agree with me but I HATE a saleen wing on an LX, or a GT with a cobra bumper. makes the back look squashed to me. I also hate the cobra wing with a GT bumper - too tall top to bottom. I do really like a GT wing on an LX, though.

I think our opinion of the looks is a little distored when compared with how things were at the time these cars came out. The aftermarket and interchangability of parts over the years have shown us a million different ways that we can make our car look but if you look at it with a subjective eye, and transport yourself back to the late 80's, the looks of each car suit the idea that they were going for. Flashy GT, subdued LX. Not to mention that the taillights on the GT were popular back then - GTS sold louvered blackout covers for almost everything!

Sorry for the quality of the pic but damn I think this looks good

Honestly, while I like the LOOKS of my LX wing, I hate the damned thing when it comes to keeping it clean. By their very design, they trap a bunch of loose dirt and tree bits and such under there, and when you go to wash it, you get this steady cascade of debris and dirt coming from under the rear edge of the thing all over your tail lenses and bumper. And short of unbolting the thing to clean underneath it every time you wash the car, you'll always wind up with water trails when it dries. You might be able to get around this a bit by sealing the leading edge of the wing with weatherstripping or silicone or something, but it's just annoying as all hell to me.

(And on a completely unrelated note, why is that stupid iPhone ad above the Quick Reply box in frickin' Spanish? )

I like the GT wing from the back, but that's the only view i like. I can't stand how they're flat from a side view.

I don't dislike the GT wing or bumper, I'm just throwing around ideas.

My motivations are not merely cosmetic. The LX wing produces less drag than the GT wing and the GT bumper acts like a huge sail. So I'm looking for ways to reduce my drag coefficient as I do a lot of 1000 mile highway road trips.

And I would definitely keep the GT tail lights. The first time I saw LX lights on a GT I thought they were ugly. The GT tail light covers just look so cool and so '80s it's awesome.

The other reason why I want a Cobra bumper is because I need a whole new body kit (the current one is warped and shrunk) and it is nearly impossible to find a matching set that's mint. I'd choose brand new Cobra ground effects over used GT ground effects.

Also, the brake louvers on the GT ground effects produce drag. I want to see how sleek I can get the car. The Fox Body has a surprisingly low drag coefficient. It's boxy but if you look at it, all the body panels are really straight and smooth, no excess scoops. The Edge mustang and SN95 have greater drag coefficients than the Fox LX hatch. Even though the Edge and SN95 look sleeker, their exteriors are "busier" which is worse for aerodynamic flow.

Fox Aero LX hatch .36
SN95 .37
Edge .37
Fox Aero GT .39
Fox Aero Notch .40

These are the most popular drag coefficients I can find that actually cite sources.

I guess you could say it's an experiment to see what I can do with the car. If I wanted the most aerodynamic Fox I'd just take off the wing all together but at the same time I don't want it to look like crap. I'm trying to balance availibility of parts, functionality and looks.

Back the original topic, if anyone has pics put 'em up.

On a stock bumper GT, the GT wing is fine. If going to a Cobra or Saleen bumper, I like the LX wing. That green TT car that Mike guy on here had looked really good with the LX wing.

shes hot. Reminds me of a women in a dress just the belly down to the top of the thigh's. Can you guys see it . I like foxbodys way2much if there is such a thing.

I cant say I havent looked at the lx wing and thought about swapping though. The main reason I would swap is due to cracking on the wing were the lights is "Damn people closing the hatch with the wing "

I don't like the LX wing as much as the GT. I like GT wings on LX's. You have to fill holes if you do that though.

I personlly think the gt wing looks bad on an lx and vice versa... and that wing on the scca stang posted is an lx wing. I have a steeda wing on my lx and I used to have an lx with a dugan wing which is pretty much a saleen wing.
