In a 67, was the push rod for manual drum brakes adhustable. Trying t figure out if I have the original pushrod or not. Also, what configurations, if any, did have an adjustable m.c. pushrod?
I'm in the process of ordering a "new" MC this time. The "remanufactured" on lasted only four years, but on to your question. My manual for a 67 doesn't show an adjustable push rod for the manual brakes. The instructions just say to hook everything up, coat the nylon bushing on the brake pedal with 10w oil, bleed the MC and test brakes. My 67 with power discs has an adjustable pushrod.
Cobra-automotive has an adjustable pushrod. Cost is $79.95, P/N 100-A21161. Tel is 203-284-3863. Absolutely necessary if you want to get all that free play out of manual brakes. Its pricey and may be available elsewhere but this is the only one I know about. After you get over the price, the end result is a high and hard brake pedal.
I made one by cutting off the pushrod about 1" from the pedal end, then turning that end down just enough to thread it for 5/16". I then made a short sleeve, threaded at both ends for 5/16. One end is threaded with loctite to the pushrod and the other has an ARP 5/16" bolt screwed into it (12-point head cut off and smoothed with belt sander. Now I have an adjustable rod. After trial fitting, you can mark the rod (at ARP bolt) and loctite that end, too. Anyway, I got tired of having play and this was all available to me from stuff I had laying around.

I did a full Cobra disk brake swap and the only thing I didn't like, other than using the factory pads, was that the brake pedal didn't start to apply decent pressure until half-way down. I can lock the brakes, but it happens with the pedal less than an inch from the floor. Makes me a little nervous.
