When installing an off-road pipe kit....is it necessary to install the m.i.l.'s? Do they only prevent the light from coming on or does it truely effect the computer and hurt performance.

only keep light from coming on. No affect on performance issues associated with it what so ever. All that will happen is that you will have an amber light staring you in the face everytime you drive it. Here's the catch. If you have another problem that trips the light and it's already on, then you won't know because it is already on. You can make your own MIL eliminators, however. I did it for like $3.

Just a light, not a malfunction. Car will run fine.

i will have to disagree. had my prochamber with dallas mustang mil's and light kept coming on & going off for about 6 mo. or more. finally, i got sick of it & when i got chip, it went off for good. i think it made my car run a little worse, can't explain or prove it though; so ??? just seemed kinda sluggish. not that it hurts anything; but after awhile, maybe that light starts getting into your head i think. mostly i just got tired of explaining to everyone who got in the car why it was on. everyone will tell u that its on; like u had never noticed it b4.

daver, there must have been another problem. Thousands of owners have installed off road pipes and seen nothing but more hp from them. You should have checked the codes.

i know what u mean. i had codes checked @ parts store, but they told me there were no codes. and yet, the light was still on. so, i had no other ideas. i blamed it all on crappy dallas mustang mil elims. and used it as an excuse to get a chip. but everything's all good now, so ? ? ?
