Hey guys thinking about going with a change in exhaust. I currently have the flow 40's and im sick of sounding like every other 5.0 out there. I ran mac dumps and a 99 cobra with headers and an x-pipe and they sounded pretty good. My question is though are they any good for the 5.0 and do they sound decent?

I have Mac's with dumps on a couple of my cars. I love the sound but I think they would sound totally different on a 5.0 than a 4.6. To me they are quieter at idle but louder at full throttle. They also sound deeper but mellower than the flomasters if that makes any sense.

i had them on my 347 combo 3" x pipe

for me it was wayy wayy wayy to loud, but my other mustang buddies liked it alot, it did get a bit smelly in the car at stops but it was load

for comparison i run a 40's series now with tails and i think its very mean sounding and not too loud

i figured they would sound completely different on a 5.0. Also does anyone know of a place to get a good price on them?

Mustangs Unlimited has a good price on them... I think they're $199.95 or something like that...

I have Mac shorties, O/R pipe and cat back on the 94. I have to say that I dig the sound. It is almost too obnoxious, but worth it IMHO. Idle has a nice burble and when you get on it, it sounds really good to my ear. Funny too that it sounds more like a mod motor to me.

The cabin noise at cruise (2K) can take getting used to. It is pretty loud in a coupe. And I have full tails exiting at the rear fascia (SN95).

You drove that around on the street for extended periods? I guess you dont have anything to worry about.

Oh you couldnt hear me? I said, "I guess you dont have anything to worry about."

You still couldnt hear me?

Sorry man - I could not help it. Too many years riding loud motorcycles with no helmet or ear plugs - I use jokes like that on myself.

I have the mac 3" pro dumps on my 331 and they are loud. To me they sound raspy like an Ls1.

I have the catback on my GT ('90) with an off road H... I second what you said except that mine doesn't sound like a mod motor.

I think the catback is borderline too loud for a dd... I haven't heard the dumps but obviously they're going to be louder still.

I like the Mac mufflers. Better than Flowmasters now.
