Mac Exhaust -Opinions

You haven't heard an exotic car sound until you hear a Ferrrari V12 with the factory hi-po exhaust upgrade racing around the road course. It's like sex for the ears. It changes you.

Now mac to the question at hand. The MAC muffler burble and drone on my '90, so I'm sure they do the same on the 4.6 too.

Does anyone have the Delta Flow 50 Flowmasters? They claim less resonance (drone) and I've never heard if that's BS or true.

Acctually i was at the ferrari races at watkins glen last year...friend of mine's dad is a salesman for it so we got to hang in the pits

Its not necessarily some of the catbacks I didnt care for, it was those mixed with O/R pipes. I really like the sound of a pro chamber or catted X.

its funny you say that because i was just having this convo with Joe at Mustang Magic (the best mustang shop out here in Long Island) He was telling me the same thing that pro-chambers make a much better sound and actually has made more power with a Mac setup on his cars than any other X or H, cats or not. As for mac, he said that he has done tests on all the exhausts he sells and mac makes the most power hands down (acording to him, on a modular engine, flowmaster cat-backs actualy lost 2hp) he is a dealer of bassani, magnaflow, all those money out the wing-yang "top-end" exhaust and yet he uses mac on all his mustangs, his 88 LX, his 99GT, his 03 cobra and his new 05.......i think that sais a lot.

Flowmaster and mac both sound great but they are a tired act. I had them both on my 98 gt but on this car I've got Ravin z33's along with a Mac P/C. IMHO the ravins are the best musclecar sound I've heard and the sound is UNIQUE. I think the latter is what I like best about them. I'm surprised more people haven't tried. I gaurantee if people here heard my car MOST would like the sound as much or better than flowmaster or Mac not to mention the exotic sound lovers.

Ive got the prochamber with stock mufflers, I love it, when I get the mufflers or catback I will get the mac, but that wont be for awhile since that only makes sound. I had to go back to stock for smog this week, and man what a difference, stock is lameee.

well i have an 04 GT, it has some intake parts. but it also has a mac pro-chamber (with cats, hey I live in CA) and a mac cat back. i love it. nice power, i have thought bout getting the "off road" legs or what ever they call them. so i can run w/o cats... but the state police is all over that, dunno if its worth the fines ya know?

Dont know about the other brands you asked about. I did hear a 03 GT that had a bassani off road x-pipe and cat back, that was bad @$$, had that loud, throaty, mean nice race car rumble. i cant afford that so i went MAC. thats the only brand i would trade up for. hope this helps.

Completely agree with you, i think that bassani is hands down the best exhaust for mustangs, but it is not cheap by any means, i like to think of mac as the poor man's bassani.lol.
and your little police problem, do what a lot of people here in New York do (our emmitions are as strict as CA) take the shells from a cat and weld it around the o/r H. if a cop ever does a pushup next to your car, he will see cats (unless hes superman and can see through the shells.)

A nice cat-back will make more power than stock, not just sound. I noticed a SOTP difference from the addition of my Mac cat-back when my car was stock. Wasn't much, but it was still there.
