I recently installed a MAC offroad H-Pipe on my '95 GT convertible. At the same time, I installed a new Flowmaster Force II cat-back system. My reason for posting is that it sounds weird! Standing behind the car or when I get on it, it sounds like it's supposed to sound, awesome! It's when I am maintaining speed and the exhaust is quiet out the tailpipes that is a problem. From the front of the exhaust (the H-Pipe part), it sounds like the exhaust is leaking. I've checked it up and down with the engine running and cannot find any leaks anywhere. Yet, when I'm accelerating normal, I hear the exhaust under me rather than out of the tailpipes. I had an '88 5.0 in the past with the same Flowmaster system but with stock H-pipe w/cats and did not have this problem. Anyone out there running the same system? Do you have the same problem? Do I need to get another H-Pipe?

And it is quieter. But the resonation I'm getting from the H-Pipe makes sounds like an exhaust leak. To me, it just sounds like a car with a loud exhaust. Like I said, it sounds great at the tailpipes, it's between the exhaust manifolds and the mufflers that the problem...I was just curious if anyone else has run into this.

Thanks for the info. I've had several old muscle cars with dual exhaust with no cats that have not sounded this way. This is my first with an H-pipe so I didn't know if it was a characteristic of the H. If I have to live with it, I'll live with it. Thanks again for all the help guys!

I have a mac prochamber and can also hear this noise. I have been on a few different forums and there are a lot of people that have the same noise and they say it is normal for mac. It does get aggervating though.

Im guessing it's a swooshing style air-moving-through-the pipe sound....and you hear it at low rpms when you give it some gas. If that is the sound, it is normal. Thats what i had in my 95 Cobra w/ american thunder and mac o/r h pipe... I actually really liked the sound!

MAC

I have a MAC prochamber, when I got it at first sounded great. Then within a week it sounded a little loud also. I put it on the lift and noticed one of the welds by the cat had poped. I had a friend cover the exhaust and I ran my hands over the exhaust to find it. It was small but it made a difference in sound.
