mac or flowmaster? just need a muffler to my 03 v6. not looking to do duals quite yet. which is going to sound and perform better. not looking for massive gains here. just need to replace the muffler and dont want to get a stock replacement. so far the only mods to my car are a grill deleate and a mac cold air kit.

If those are the only two options for you, I'd go flowmaster. MAC has a tendency to rust up quickly. Or atleast in my limited experience with their products.

I like magnaflow. There's bassani. I don't like the sound of it very much. Dynomax which gives a very quiet idle/low rpm. Borla... haven't really heard it on a V6.

I had Macs mufflers on my '01 V6 and have a full Mac H-pipe and catback on my '95 5.0. No problems with rust.

My '95 had Flowmasters when I bought it, and they were crappy. The baffling had broken off, and was rattling around inside the muffler.

The Mac mufflers also sound A LOT better than the Flows did.

I've had flowmasters on both my Mustangs with no issues and good results. I will more than likely go with Flowmaster again on my next Mustang.

Another Stang owner down the street from me has Mac Mufflers which sound too gurgly to me. Almost as if his exhaust has flem that it needs to cough out.

Wurd!

ok first things first

it aint no 5.0 so it doesnt matter what muffler you put on it

i have a 99 3.8 and i put duals on it and used flowmasters on idle sounds like a
V8 as soon as you hit the gas you cant tell the difference from it to a honda with a fart pipe..........

but it does sound kinda different but you know its to each his own and we all need to be different but what i suggest is for you to go peruse your local salvage yard for one of each hookem up temporary and see what one you like the best...its all a matter of opinion....

So it does matter.

This is why I went with Mac Flowpaths. My 3.8 was almost silent at idle, but sounded good under throttle.
The Flowmaster V6es had decent idle but sounded raspy at higher RPM's

I did a search on Youtube, and this is the closest I could find to the sound of my car. But that's a Y-pipe setup and mine had an H-pipe.

I have the mac dual catback mufflers on my 97 with the factory 'y' pipe. I love the way it sounds and looks. Next will be to replace the y pipe with a catted H. The entire catback is either black powder coated, or stainless (from the axle back) so unless you bang it up, rust should not be an issue.

I have the Mac duals on mine as well. love the sound, and just recently i got sick of the chrome tips, so i removed them and it sounds even better. I also like the no tip look as well, could be just me. No problems with the mac's and customer service is great.
