Mac Pro Dumps

I think "flowmaster" is being used as a general term to describe people with 2 chamber or american thunder set-ups. When making a comparison to flowmaster, it makes a world of differance if your talking about a 2 chamber american thunder muffler (p/n 942543) and a original 40 series 2-chamber (p/n 42543). The american thunder kit comes with 942543's, there is no kit that comes with 42543's, flowmaster's loudest muffler. A friend of mine got an american thunder kit but welded 42543's into it and it is crazy loud. So when your talking american thunder, remember they are quite compared to 40 series 42543's. just my .02

No you can't. I've looked into this because a friend of mine bought a 94 GT that already had a catback on it and wow, it was loud. Not to mention it still had stock catts on it. So when we put an off road h-pipe on it, it got 10 times louder than my american thunders. At this point I looked at the part numbers on his mufflers and there was no 9 in front of it. I looked on Flowmasters web site and that explained it. I have heard a lot of MAC sound clips but I guess because I've heard original 40 series, the MAC's do not seem that loud. Just my opinion.

I love the DRONE
i love the drone too, but only in the sense where it is not through the entire rpm range, the best way i can explain the sound of my friend's stang with dumped mac's and o/r h is that it sounds like single chamber race mufflers (not straight through design, but just a big box) mounted right behind the headers of a 350 (yup chevy engine sound) so it really has no tone, but just thumping noise that sounds like its inside your head haha...like cheap race set-ups at the local track. as far as my setup with tails, o/r h, and mac cat-back, I LOVE the set-up, its just that it drones a lot, so if you weren't wanting that i'd make note of it...and it's plenty loud without being racey sounding, just have someone else drive by at WOT, you'll love it haha

That explains quite a bit then. I have a friend that used to have a 98 GT, and his exhaust system was exactly the same as mine minus the BBK shorties I have and his car was always so damn loud compared to mine. I never understood why, and I bet he had the original two chamber 40 series where I more than likely have the "American Thunder" flows.

mytight95 I have the same setup as you, isn't it great? :nice: People tell me it's loud as HELL, but I dont really think so. I could stand to have it louder :D

I was thinking of going spintech, probably the prostreets. Edit: I also want to go back to LTs, but then I'd need midpipe work, etc., prob. not worth the cash.
