Get on the road and drive in any gear at 1800-2000 rpm. Does the car fill with an unbelievable drone? Some MAC axleback customers (me included) appear to have "unique" problems the mufflers in this rev range...

if you use this setup you have to use the screen[as they call it]in the air inlet to throttle body and check light won't com on.

was wrong

well low an behold the mac intake does't work without reflashing.tried everything they said and would't work.check engine light came back on.finally called steeda on saturday as no one at mac was there.talked to FRED and was told that there just are't any brands that really work without reflash.then try to find a reflash, right.went and bought steeda intake and diablo unit.FANTASTIC,took about 1/2 hour to put in intake and about 1 hour to download and program car.car runs like it should.cured the hesitation and not so sharp shifts.paid $650 for both.WELL WORTH IT!

I installed the MAC and - blink! Check Engine Light.
Got the Predator and decoded both banks were sensing too lean. Uploaded many of the provided tunes and either lost performance or experienced alot of pinging (pre detination) even with 91 octane fuel. The best performance tune I found was the stock tune but now the check engine light comes on again. Should MAC or Dialbo help out here?

I haven't been able to find a tune for the Mac either. I would try to contact the guys at rpmoutlet and find out what tune they use. They sell the Mac air and the Diablo for a package deal and have dynoed it at 27 hp/17tq, so I would be interested what tune they used and if they got any SES lights.

Actually, I just emailed RPM on what tune they used with the Diable/Mac air, and I'll let ya'll know what they say. I'm kind of torn between the Diablo/C&L combo and the Diablo/Mac, one is a few hundred cheaper, but one come with a whole new inlet and a dyno proven tune... Any advice?

I would LOVE to hear a sound clip of the Mac A/B. Do you have one, or does anyone know where one is?

Thanks!

I have the MAC CAI the Diablo/ Steeda tune works fine I changed the 93 oct.
to 87 oct by lowering the Globe spark by 3. The Diablo/ C&L work fine the same way. But they are all real close to the same on my car. The factory plus 4 on the MAF gives the best gas mileage, but it's not the best for Performance.

I'm bummed to hear about this. I've been thinking about getting the MaC intake myself I was sold when I read on RPM's site: "Unlike all other air systems, computer re-flash is not required" Guess that's B.S.

On the other hand, instead of getting a hand held tuner would it work if you bought the Jet performance chip with the MaC intake? It states: "The chip even reads your engines intake air temperature setting and offsets it for more power."

Hmmm...maybe do a chip/MaC combo??

Jet Chip - $199.95 = 22hp
MAC Intake - $179.95 = 16hp
Total = $379.94 @ 38hp

Is this even possible?
Am I out of reasoning here?

I don't believe the gains would be cummulative. Even with the Diablo/C&L CAI with custume tune only nets around 27hp, so I would assume the Jet/Mac CAI combo would be around 22-27, but I highly doubt more than 27.

Anybody with the Jet chip like it? It seems easy to undo to make it all stock to take it back to the stealership. I know that with the last gen Dakota, the Jet chips did close to nothing for performance.

It sounds like if you don't want to have to take a trip to the dyno just yet, C&L or Steeda is the way to go.
