Hey I was just wondering if anyone has had to change the clutch on their 03 or 04 Mach's yet...are these clutches very strong and up to par for a little racing? I just got mine and it only has 10,000 miles on it. 04. I was pretty much giving the car a good test run today for about an hour worth of ripping into second and even fishtailing 3rd gear. (the ground was slightly damp). Other than that I dont drive her hard and I never use the clutch unless Im shifting. I didn't WOT and I never wait on the clutch at lights or stop signs. Just a little hard gear chirping fun. Do I have anything to worry about?
---------------Part 2
Does anyone else notice that their Mach idle comes down very slowly. For example I'm in 2nd gear at 3 RPM and I put it back into neutral. The needle slowly drops from 3 back down to 1 and then below 1. I feel it should it should be dropping more quickly though. Is this normal because of clutch and flywheel weight, or is something wrong with my car? I just got it 4 days ago. Also today after my gear chirping episode at one point for about 3 minutes when I was in neutral and then came to a stop, the idle stayed at about 1,300 RPMs, when normally it drops to about 700. Do all machs do this??

Seems normal to me. The idle on my 03 Mach does the same thing. I baby mine, but do drive it pretty hard at wot at least once a day and after about 4 months my throw out bearing started making a little noise. My old Cobra made the same noise & I have heard countless other stangs make the same noise. its like a faint squeaky noise that can be heard usually at idle unless the clutch is engaged. Its nothin to worry about right now. Mine currently has 35k miles & all is well. Congrats on the new Mach...Im sure you can tell already that your gonna love it.

Thanks man, yeah I'm loving it a lot lol. When I was at the dealership getting the car I was on the phone with CJ Pony parts already making an appointment to have a BBK O/R X-pipe and flowmaster american thunder catbacks installed. I got that done today which is why I was ripping it so badly lol, having too much fun; My main concern was when the idle stayed at about 1,400 RPM but it only did it for about 2 minutes I noticed it at 2 red lights, it just stayed at 1,400. but after that it started going back down to about 700 like normal now....

I have never had mine stay at 1400 for that long, but its probably nothin to worry about. I did notice a difference between this & my 97 Cobra when driving hard the revs would stay higher between gears when shifting. I just thought it was an improvement that kept it more in the powerband.

I dont have the squeaky noise but I do hear the tranny clunk when I hit the gas at very low RPMs for example if im in 2nd only at 10 mph and i hit the gas i hear it clank n clunk for a second and then it starts picking up normally....i think this is just normal of mustangs tho...my 95 gt and 89 5.0 gt both made the same exact sound...even when at 1 mph in first gear when u first start to accelerate.

Mine does that clunk noise if Im driving in 5th gear @ very low rpms & I try to speed without downshifting. Yeah..Its just mustangs...lol...All 3 of the stangs I have owned made all kinds of noises. Especially when I started modding things like suspension & exhaust. Are you gonna mod it or keep it stock?

All those sound like good mods, I just personally dont care for the louvers. But 2 each his own, right? If you are gonna stick with the Mach 1 style wheels, you should at least get some wider ones. Ford cheated us with pizza cutter 17-8's . They should at least be 17-9. If I stuck with the Mach wheels I would have gotten the billet vintiques Magnum 500's in 17-9 & 17-10.5 with 315's in the back or deep dish Mach 1 style wheels.

17-9 wheel vintiques
