I figure I will get flamed for asking this but is there an easy way to tell by looking if a car has a Mach 1's suspension or a Cobra's suspension? Apparently just looking to see which the car is isn't enough as I was informed today while getting some brake work done that my Mach 1 has Cobra suspension. I should have asked what year of a Cobra (I would assume '04 but I don't know for sure) but didn't think of it till it was too late. The car's previous owner only drove it for less than 2,000 miles but I do know that he put a different air system in it. If what they say is accurate I guess he changed the suspension was well.

If you are talking IRS (03/04 Cobra) as opposed to solid axle that difference is night and day. You would see that right off.

IRS left, solid axle right

hopefully you have a solid axle under there. the mach 1 and cobras share the same brakes with the exception of the "cobra" lettering on the calipers

It looks like the solid to me. Either the tech didn't know what he was talking about or I miss understood something. Thanks for the picture COramprat, that made it really easy to tell which I had.

Unless he was talking about minor things like springs or shocks/struts. But that would be very subtle.

When you do a burnout does the whole car shake and feel like the rear end is going to EXPLODE? If so you have a Cobra suspension

Some cobra owners are willing to do straight up trades for a solid axle. And if the previous owner had plans of cone racing/scca then the IRS would be wanted.
