Mach MP3 in a 2001 GT???

I know this isn't really tech, but I posted it in "Sound and Shine" yesterday, but got no replies.

My 2001 GT came with the base stereo: the CD/cassette combo unit. Can I put the Mach MP3 player in it's place or does that unit require external amps like the Mach460/1000 option? I have an aftermarket MP3 player in the dash now, but want an OEM look (I know, call me crazy...) with MP3 capability. I sold my original head unit a few years ago and am hoping that I can just plug the Mach MP3 player in and have it power the speakers (I'm removing the aftrmarket amps I have now).

Damn... that's what I get for giving in to an impulsive buy on ebay. I guess I'll have a Mach MP3 to sell when it's delivered....Oh Well

Actually, it doesn't. I was able to just plug it in and go. The Mach MP3 is nothing special...it's only about 60 watts total and it won't display the song titles & info. But it is OEM and does play MP3.
