Well i read all the mach460 headunit install threads i could find and figured the job would be fairly easy......holy hell was i wrong. Right now i have NOTHING working in my car audio-wise other than the Pioneer 4700MP turning on. I posted in the Sound section but nobody goes there so thats pretty much a lost cause. (http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=590153)
Anyways......did i even buy the right harness? Only 2 connections work out of the 4 supplied, the black one and the grey one. What do i need to do!? So far ive been told that i'll have to rewire from the speakers and that sounds like WAY too much hassle for a fricking aftermarket head unit. The harness isn't even on the scosche website it seems like, this is the closest i could find to it (http://www.scosche.com/scosche_caraudio.aspx?CategoryID=78&ItemID=FDK10B) but the one at walmart that said it fits it is the FDK106 which is what i bought. Will i need to return and get the FDK10 or FDK10B or what? Right now i dont even care about the subs i was planning on installing, i just want the stock speakers to work!

EDIT: here are 4 more pics of the harness i just took:

I'd just get aftermarket speakers and don't even worry about the 2nd wiring harness that hooks up to the stock speakers. Thats what I did and the sound quality is like night and day. I'm running 2-way 6x8 audiobahns in the front and rear as well as the custom MTX sub box w/ an orion amp... The total install took a long time but was well worth it.

just drop the job and drive somewhere that will do it for cheap, not worth messing something up and having to replace something

Contact Metra for the right harness tell what year and with or without Mach460 and it will be plug and play. In the past they have responded to my emails within hours not days.

It's actually not hard to do man. The little black box with all the speaker wires: white, white/black, grey, grey/black, purple, purple/black, green, green/black, you need to cut the end off of it and strip the covering off the wire. Next get a pair of cheap RCAs and cut them at the ends and strip the ends of those wires too. Simply attach the two wires from each RCA strand(8 total) to a different speaker color(8 total): The red end of the RCA to the left front + and -, and the white end to the right front + and -, and so on. Then just plug the RCAs into the pre-amp outputs on the back of the radio and you are all set. The reason for this is because you want the head unit to send a low level signal to your stock amps, if you don't it will read a high level and that is bad. If you have any other questions and need more specifics let me know.

This is what I bought for my Alpine HU. (From Crutchfield) It will work on your Pioneer too. The instructions were great and you really need something to lower your outputs so you don't overdrive your amps. Mine works perfectly. No other components needed.

Alright heres another thing i just realized, will these harnesses be dealing with the stuff circled in RED or the stuff circled in YELLOW? or a combination? Because after looking closer today at wiring diagrams and retracing wire colors etc. im under the impression that the deal with the stuff circled in RED...am i wrong?

I also realize that the ones that allow the stock amps to be integrated will use the tabs circled in yellow, but it seems like the speaker wires go to the black and grey tabs circled in red.

Ive already talked to metra and he told me the 70-5510 which isnt even on their website anymore. Either way.....entertain me if possible please and tell me which would go where?

Harness that bypasses stock amps would plug into what regions?
Harness that utilizes stock amps would plug into what regions?

Thats my main problem right now.

Here's the harness, take a look at the pic and see which connectors match what you have. Or send your pic to metra and ask them they are very helpful.

Alright thanks jeff!
Any idea on the harness that bypasses the amps? I think that might be the route i want to go so i'll get less bass to start off with, but then just connect the RCA's and have the subs ready to rumble. I have the subs set up and the car is wired to handle an amp/subs, i just want to get the regular speakers working first before i move onto the extra bass. Right now i just want the speakers to work....thats it.

Also....i took off my door panels and rear deck panel and noticed that after counting the speakers about 5 times i see 8, not 6 speakers. 2 tweeters, 2 door speakers, 2 rear 5x8's or whatever they are, and then 2 tiny little dudes next the the 5x8's. Any idea on why its advertised as 6 speakers but this has 8?
