It all started about a week ago when I noticed a rattling sound coming from underneath my car . I asked some friends for advice and I searched the forums, and they weren't sure what the deal was. On top of that since I just graduated from college and I still live in an appt, I couldn't find anyone that had the right tools or time to solve or figure out the problem. The rattle got so bad that I decided to take it to Midas, the same people who had installed it a year and a half ago. They told me my cat had gone bad (I was hoping that would NOT be the case), and that they could replace it with a similar high flow cat...so I told them to go ahead and get it fixed. Well, it cost more than I would've liked, and I'm hoping that having two different catylitic converters on there will be no big deal. I emailed magnaflow about this but I haven't heard back. Has anyone else had this problem? having it for only a year in a half with low miles on it is quite dissapointing...Please let me know what you think

Yeah, maybe they'll try to make things better, the rattling was so bad I had to stop by to have it checked, when I say bad I mean REAL bad rattling, I thought something was about to fall off...I just made my decision right there to have it fixed, I was so worked up about it...just sucks

cats should be under a warranty, especially from magnaflow. plus it should definitely be more than a yean and a half warranty. the cats that came with my SLP X-pipe have a lifetime limited warranty. save the receipt for parts and labor from midas.

Yes, I definetly saved the receipt...Hopefully they'll take the time to read my email, I wasn't rude or anything I just told them exactly what happened...Hopefully they'll write back soon.

Hey guys- Magnaflow guy here-

Well the converters in your X pipe are under warranty-

however Midas SHOULD NOT have handled it that way-

They should have contacted us or their distributor to go through the warranty process-

Basically you need to go back to Midas and inform them that the converter was still under warranty, and they should have replaced it under warranty-

Did they replace it with a Magnaflow converter?

The problem is that now, you have paid retail price for a converter, and I know what our tech guys are going to tell you-

Magnaflow can not reimburse you for your expenses- the reason being- if a converter goes bad- we replace it- costing us only our cost on a converter-

If we were to reimburse you, we would be paying for the mark up on the converter as well from the shop- and possibly a converter that is not even ours-

I would get back over to Midas and inform them that the converter they charged you for, was in fact under warranty and they need to contact their supplier-

If they give you any trouble at Midas- call me- I WILL make it right-

Also you NEED to make sure they put another Magnaflow converter on the vehicle- or there will be negative effects on the vehicles performance-

Thanks,

Brent Bass
