Wow, I knew it was only a matter of time before this post started getting negative......oh well.....

The price increase was minimal, what also happened was we came up with a minimum ADVERTISED price program-
Exhaust 101-
90% of our business is catalytic converters.
90% of our sales are through exhaust shops.
Exhaust shop has more overhead then website retailers.
Website retailers can make less margin then exhaust shops because they have less over head.
Websites sell cheaper then exhaust shop.
Exhaust shop gets mad because Magnaflow cheaper on website then what they can afford to sell it for.
Exhaust shop gets mad at us and stops using our converters, because we do not sopport them, they believe we support websites now.
We loose our converter business.
We go out of business.
We make a minimum ADVERTISED price.
No longer is stuff advertised cheaper on the websites, exhaust shops can make their margins, they are happy again...
They sell more of our converters, and we have more money to invest into Magnaflow-
Now Magnaflow uses polished tubing, Magnaflow invests in new equipment to make better exhaust systems for you.
The End.
Magnapacks- we have also hidden the mufflers on the Magnapacks as well, however because of the lack of an off set, the tips are slightly shorter then the tips used in the Magnaflow system.

There are still deals out there on the magnaflow kits to be had, you just have to find them. I got my cat back for $365 and got the bumper inserts thrown in for free. 
I guess I am missing something so that is why I am asking here. Not trying to get negative just have to find out.
I looked on some sites selling MF muffs and tips muffs are selling for $125 or less and tips $75 or less. So wondering where the rest is going with the new muffs and tips? That is basically what the axle back is right? Maybe that is where I am lost...
I would love to see side by side pics of old stang cat back/axle back and the new MF cat back/axle back. That way we can see where all the cost is going.

I dont see tons of diff between the two and if you already have SS why buy more and replace it? So then the next logical thing would be buy the axle back but that is just muffs and tips right? At least from the MF diagram thats what it shows. That being said with the prices I saw why is it so much just for those things?

I can give you an explanation....
Most exhaust companies when designing an exhaust system, change the piping then grab a couple of universal mufflers that will fit out of inventory and throw them into the package.....
Companies that use a baffled muffler do this because it is a very difficult process to tune a baffled muffler....
The mufflers we use in our cat back kits are actually not just universal mufflers like most of the other guys use....
We actually use computers to determine how the air is flowing into and through the mufflers in order to tune our muffler to a specific vehicle....
We can increase flow within a specific catback system and change the sound, decrease resonation and so on, all by changing the size, shape, location and so on of our preferations......
So while it may appear as though we just got some tubing, threw in a couple of mufflers with tips and increased the price, there is a lot of R&D work that goes into each system.
There was a lot of testing that went into the mufflers in these systems....
Thats part of the reason when you see tests done by places like Mach1Review, our system comes out on top.....(We beat ou our next nearest competitor by something like 5rwhp in that test)
yet on the universal mufflers, results can be closer...its because a lot more R&D work goes into our systems then our mufflers....

I was not going negative with my post. Just observing. Anyone who knows me knows I am completely Magnaflow faithful (cuz thats all I reccomend). I do admit I am a little upset because I was planning on buying a kit for my GFs Toyota Tacoma. Kit was $320 last time I checked and now it cost $400 for the same product. $80 bux is not minimal. And last I checked you can't negotiate with a website that has you click a "buy" link. Anyways, its not your fault. You guys gotta do what you do any I understand. But paying a few extra bucks for Borla or Bassani isnt as hard to do any more, expecially now that I just found out that Magnaflow is not full stainless steel, as I originally had thought. Hope I caused no harm.
Why not share then, instead of just saying look for them? I believe most websites say if you call them you can get better pricing....
Even www.partshopper.com says call for the best prices.

Just so you know, the price of steel went up approximately 30% last year. I am not going to say we are now paying 30% more, but we did absorb part of the price increase......
Even Flowmaster had a price increase last year...in fact they had two, they just had several small ones instead of one bigger one, thats all....
You can ask Flowmaster, Borla, Bassani, everyone has been effected by steel prices....add that in with our advertising program, and I can understand the sticker shock....
But, if you call some of these websites....I can not mention which for political reasons, but a great number of them will negotiate....

It's a good thing companies are already developing exhaust for the GT because stock is just a lot quieter then I expected. It sounds good but just not as loud as I thought it was going to be from what others were saying. I bet it'll sound pissed though with some Magnaflow on there.
