ok guys, i know exhausts thread's have been beaten to death...but i'm in a pickle.

i can get a used steeda axleback, the canaster style one for a damn good deal..$250, its got a few thousand miles on it.

i wanted a magnaflow axleback, and i can get one new from brenspeed for $400.
i have a bassani off road x mid pipe, and i'm wondering if the steeda's will be to loud? i know that the mac i had was to loud, i'm going to be looking into making it a sleeper pretty soon...

i know magnaflow's would sound good, make it more tame just driving, and open up when i lay in it. i'm not sure how the steeda's would sound though...any advice will help!

Magnaflows and off-road x pipe will have a lot of drone and be very raspy. I can tell you that much.

Here's Steeda with an off-road H. Expect it to be raspier and higher pitched with an X pipe

If you have an O/R pipe you can forget about sleeper. These cars are relatively unmuffled (no silencer other then the mufflers themselves) If you remove the cats which are one of the most restrictive parts in the whole exhaust system you'll be loud regardless. That said some mufflers will be louders then others.

I would speculate that the less chambers your mufflers will have the louder it will sound. If you consider a straight through pipe design like a Steeda, Borla/FRP, Magnapack or Corsa as a single chamber you can see that these cars will probably sound the loudest (short of having no mufflers) when you remove the cats.

That said I have Steeda mufflers and I love them. A little drony at some RPM's but nothing obnoxious or anything. I also got them (new) at little under twice what you paid so you're REALLY lucky to find a deal like that!

EDIT: Cruise around this section I think anticubicle has posted a vid of his car which has an O/R pipe and the Steedas, I have posted somewhere a video of my car autoxing but I have the stock cats so it's a different sound altogether. Hope it helps.

I have a Pypes offroad x pipe and Magnaflows. It is very raspy at part throttle, but at WOT it sounds awesome! And I have absolutely ZERO drone. Here's what the system sounds like... this was on my old 07 GT... These are not the can style Magnaflows though. They are the full bodied mufflers

Magnaflow mid mufflers must be different, then. Cuz I have TONS of drone on the '05.
