right now i have a magnaflow magnapack cat back exhaust on my 00 gt and i was wondering how much louder a magnaflow o/r x-pipe would make my stang sound? a couple ppl told me it would probably deepen and double the loudness but then again they dont drive mustangs so i dunno...and would it be best to match the cat back to the x-pipe or get a different x-pipe which might make it sound better...any opinions or preferences?

If you already have an O/R midpipe and flows, it must be already quite loud, but the only way to prolly get louder is to ditch the chambered mufflers for some straight through mufflers(magnapack, slp loudmouth, borla stinger etc.) or just run straight pipes/dump the exhuast.

I've heard fox body 5.0's and f-150's w/ 5.0's and straight pipes/no mufflers. IMO, the noise you make pisses off neighbors, the police and pretty much everyone. With straight pipes the drone inside the vehicle is almost unbearbale at certain rpms. That extra noise just isn't worth all the hassle, IMO. From what I have heard you lose the deep tone w/ no mufflers and it sounds more raspy and not nearly as throaty.

OK - opinion. I think with magnapacks with an h-pipe sounds deeper than with an x-pipe. The exhaust combo you are suggesting I think would be down right annoying.

down right annoying? would it just be ridiculously loud or what? i like the way my magnapacks sound...but i want it to sound louder & deeper...so if thats what an o/r x-pipe will do ill probably get in installed in the next week or two...and also is there a distinct sound difference from an o/r x-pipe & h-pipe?

Ya, but it's a great loud cause it is very refined and smooth, no popping or any crap like that!

I didn't read all the replies, but you might consider Dynomax Bullet mufflers - sounds like Borla Stinger mufflers...just probably a tiny bit deeper and louder.

You can't realy compare the note of GT and Cobra. It's comparing apples and oranges, a Cobra is gonna sound sick no matter what, and unless you do a 4 valve swap, you won't come close.

If you want deep, run an H or the pro-chamber. If you want loud, well..SLP loudmouth is the ticket. The name says it all. I have a few friends with SLP, one of them has a 02 GT with full SLP LT's all the way back. DAMN, it's loud!

That's my .02

Cobra and Mach's have a different tone to them. H and Prochamber will give you a deep, muscle car sound. X Pipes will give you more of a race car sound. Some people say X Pipes have that Nascar sound. Off Road pipes will have the crackel and pop. They also smell bad. But you will get the most power with them.

Magnapacks and Loudmouth sound similar. I have the SLP Loudmouth and magnaflow x with hi flow cats and it sounds great. Don't do o/r x, it wont be deeper, it will be VERY raspy. I had an o/r x on for a while, but got sick of it FAST. If anything, get an o/r h, this way it will be a little deeper and louder not just loud and annoying....and btw, you do any highway driving??!! Good luck if you do. Trust me, I like my exhaust loud, but not raspy like an o/r x.
